Is this plant too young to clone?

Ok so i have this here whitewidow/afghan kush girly and its a little over a month old and its got a few branches that look big enough to be cloned. now do you think these branches are good enough? and also is the plant too small to be cut? like will it grow all messed up because of it or will it be ok

ive cloned plants that have been around 1 months, once its got a few sets of fan leaves, IMO is old enough.

I would top it, and clone the top.

I agree with topping it and cloning the top. Lower branches tend to clone easier, but honestly, I've never had a problem cloning the top (and I usually make a clone from my plants when I top them).
My rule of thumb is I clone when I can leave at least two nodes above the surface and one or two below.

you can take one of the lower side branches off right now and no it wont hurt the plant.

well i don't really want to top it right now since its so young. this is going to be a mother plant.
and what i really need is to get 4 clones out of it. now is that too many for taking the side branches
it looks like it has about 4 good sized branches

If it's a concern at all, I'd give it a little more time. Under the right conditions, it's really amazing how much growth it will put on in just a week or two.

You want to top it if its a mother. You want it big and bushy with as many clone sites as possible. Top it!

I raise White Widow and I not only topped mine but cut the lowers off at the same time. It will take a few days to start to recover and start growing again but you'll be please with the out come. My babies seem to get better growth as I take clones from each plant.

It is stupid question i guess, but how many clones one mother can produce at one time. For example i have a plant vegged for 2 weeks under MH 400 watt. Approximately how many clones can i take from it ?

I agree with everyone else with the fact that if she indeed will be a mom donating more cuttings I would top her, although if I were you I might wait until she was just a little taller with maybe 6 nodes below where you top. When you top her those side branches will race to the top and if you keep them even they will grow evenly and provide you with many more cloning sites in the future.

Pilip you can take as many clones as your mother is able to donate, basically you can almost strip her bare bones and she will come back. Personally on my first run I only take a few at most but after a few passes and some manicuring I am able to take over 20 at a time if needed. My rule of thumb to keep shock/stress low is to only take 40% of her growth off maximum in one pass. Also LST will help you to manage her bushiness if needed. Good luck and happy growing.

Thanks for info kushnotbush. The reason i'm asking this is because i want to try Heath's Robinson flooded tubes system which requires about 90 clones. I have never dealt with clones but i don't want to buy 100 seeds. So i'm considering to raise some mother plants and i'm trying to imagine how many plants do i need.

One more thing bothers me. For example i've taken clones from my mother, i've put them into ezcloner (or other cloner), under fluoros, time goes, clones are developing roots and everything goes right. How long can i keep my clones in ezcloner. Is there a moment when plants start to feel uncomfortable in that system, i don't know maybe because of root size or any other reason.

Op sorry for jacking your thread, hopefully you don't mind as the answer could be relevant to your line of questioning. Pilip, for 90 clones IMO I would run about 4-5 mother plants to start out with, as your moms get bigger and bushier you can cull the less performing pheno's or just keep them around if they are good so you can take larger cuttings which for me tend to start a little faster and provide a head start. Also with those kind of numbers you may want to try a staggered harvest of clones if you don't have the room for all of those moms.

As far as the length of time you can keep the plants in the cloner well that's up to you really. As long as you can remove the plant from the system (make sure the roots do not become tangled or grow together this is your limit) your fine, just remember once your cuts have some roots you will want to start some nutes. If your using an EZ cloner I don't recommend adding a lot of nutes as it can clog your sprayers over time which is a pain in such an expensive system. On that note I recommend building a cloner for 1/3 of the cost which will provide the same results if done right and you can add a heat mat which helps in rooting. Good luck and happy growing.

I wanted to add that if your looking to achieve this many cuts at one time, those moms need to be DWC to support that much growth IMO.
