i have my seedlings under a 400 w metal halide. everywhere else i see people saying to start them under flourescent tubes. which is right or are they both ok methods. someone help b4 its too late. thanx

yes your MH blows those floro tubes out of the water . just maintain a stable temp and you will be pleased!

seedlings can get burnt or too hot under big lites, i start with flos then 250 and 400 for 12/12.
if your going to use that lite, make sure you have a fan blowing up and out away from the plants. and try to keep around 1 1/2 foot away to start , but try to get the lite 1 foot away if poss, if it dont get too hot. try to get some flos as you grow then you can use for vegg clones and use your other lite for bigger plants, thats what i do.
