is this nute burn? (pictures)

Just wondering about this little guy. I did an experiment just to see how much better fox farm was over the crappy soil I used on my unsuccessful first grow. This is the one that got the crappy soil. It's actually turned out to grow strong and full but it's definitely discolored compared to the others which are all an nice, rich green... I just re-planted it into Blazeoneup's soil recipe so hopefully it'll be ok.

So is the discoloration due to nute burn?

Will this have any negative side effects down the line?

Looks exactly what I ran into. I started a plant in a small rockwool cube and transplanted the seedlings right into fox farm. They grew but the outer edges of each leaf loked like that...not dry or rusty..just yellow. So its alive and well, just alil under the weather from the hot soil. Yours look healthy and should weather the storm. just make sure u dont use any ferts until the look alil better greener..just reg. ph balanced water.

Fox farm...I assume youre talking ocean forest? Im using that stuff on my current grow right now. I have found that Its pretty good stuff for veggin...but sometimes is a bit strong for seedlings. Try mixing a 50/50 or a 60/40 mix of the ocean forest and some reguar potting soil. Add some perlite to loosen and help drain the soil. It will still provide everything the smaller plant needs without OD-ing it in its young stages You wont have to transplant these probably ... but next time remember the ff oc soil is jst a bit hot for young plants. . Hope this helps man!

Thanks, actually the seedling I put in the Fox Farm OF and they did really well. This is the one though that I put into Jungle Growth Moisture Protection as an experiment. At first it had yellower leaves and slow growth compared to the others, then I did a flush and it turned a darker green. In the past week though the yellow started creeping back in, I did one more flush yesterday and transplanted it to BlazeOneup's soil in a 5 gallon today. Hopefully it'll bounce back color wise.

Thanks for your input!

Good advice there.

I think nute burn can generally be avoided by never following the nutrient directions on the packages - no matter what brand it is. I always use less than the directions say. That way, if there's nute burn, then I know I need to find another nute brand.

I think using less is just smarter since plants can't take a lot of tinkering - well, the ones I've grown haven't been able to.

You need to go light, especially in the beginning. I think a lot of soils already have four weeks of nutes in them, so you don't need to add any more nutes until after that time period.

Make things easier on yourself and on your plants.
