Is this normal?

I'm using my 430 hps and two t5's on the sides, and my plant doesn't seem to be getting any bigger. The only thing that's growing on it appears to be the leafs. The leafs have gotten bigger, and there appears to be a new set of leaves about to grow in. Is this normal? It's been under the lights for about a week or so.

If it's growing slow it might be that you have heat problems or maybe pot bound? Can you give some more specifics on your grow- nutes, pot size, medium, etc. Good luck

Ok, well I'm using miracle grow potting mix, and I think I'm in the clear pot size, because I transplanted after like 4 days into a 6" pot. Hmm as for nutes I mixed in a handful of worm castings into the MG potting soil. I'm growing in a box that is 3' wide, 2.5' deep, and 3' high. I have an extraction fan kicking at all times, and my lights are on 18/6 ( I live with my parents, so when it starts to get dark around six the lights turn off until midnight, that way they can't see the bright orange yellow light). Hmm I think I was overwating for the first week though, I watered like every day, and I noticed that the soil stays moist for like 3-5 days, is that good? I don't water it until the soil dries up now.

Do you know what the temp is in your box? My plant is almost 20 inches tall in a 9.5" X 9.5" pot. Put your hand above your plant a little and if you can't hold your hand there for 30 because the heat is too much than your plant is too hot too. Your box seems a little small too...

Well if I had to guess I'd say the temp is fine, if you were to just stick your hand in there you probably wouldn't even know that the hps is even on. I'd say the temp is like 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit. The fan really kicks in. As for soil, do you think the soil is too absorbent? Have you ever heard of a person only having to water they're plant twice a week?

Idk man it seems like you might have heat issues... I have a 250 watt HPS that is air cooled with 6 inch ducting and 250 CFM duct fan. And I still have problems with heat sometimes and my box is a little taller than yours. Idk man it just seems like a 430 watt HPS might be a bit much for your box. Too much light is sometimes a bad thing. Good luck with whatever you do man
