Hello, this is my first time growing with organics. I grow in my balcony here in Mexico. I use organic fertilizers specific for weed, manufactured here. I see some differences with growing with chemical fertilizers and I wanted to know if you experience the same. This is what happened growing different strains with organic:
1. Almost no smell during flowering: I could swear that I would have been able to grow the plants inside the apartment with no filters and the apartment wouldn't stink at all.
2. Better taste: Even though the plants had basically no smell during flowering I could totally smell the product in the curing jar, although the smell is 30-40% less pungent yet the taste is noticeable better, stays longer in the mouth. It tastes better.
3. Defficiencies during flowering: It was more evident that plants experienced defficiencies during flowering vs I have never seen defficiencies during flowering when growing with chemical.
4. Plants finish faster and trichomes more consistent in color: This is an interesting one, it seems plants are ready 2 weeks earlier than with chemical, perhaps even more! And one thing I notice is that, on different strains, trichomes are more consistent in color, I mean, they turn from clear to milky and after a few weeks they turn amber but, all at the same time whereas with chemical fertilizers you can have clear, milky and amber mixed together which can be a bit baffling. Because of this last reason I feel that, at least outdoors, I extend harvesting time a lot, like 2-3 weeks more with chemical fertilizers just so that those clear trichomes become milky.
5. Softer smoke: the smoke itself feels less harsh.
6. Less yield: like 15% less but, IMO, many of the points above outpoint the bad ones. I mean, less flowering time, softer smoke, and better taste? But there are some points which I don't understand, like, I thought that a pungent plant was a sign of good health/better/more power and now with organics I can't smell them at all during flowering. Also, the obvious defficiencies are baffling: 2 plants made it to the end of harvest without defficiences but 2 plants have them and they will yield less whereas with chemical fertilizers I have never seen defficiencies, like I said.
