"tie down the top part so it is at the point where it is horizontal, then when the top starts to grow out and up again wait until it gets taller and repeat and i can bend slowly in a circle formation as i tie down the plant."

Almost. You want to to leave 3"-6" of stem after the tie, so the tip can bend up to the light and pull the stem upwards. The tip of the main stem must be the highest point on the plant if is going to grow the quickest, the plant will direct the highest point to become the main growth stem. If you tie the tip of the stem down there will be a race between the branches at each node and the growing stem tip to become the main stem - the highest one.

Stems are so supple under 24" that they can be bent easily. You will get the quickest growth if you let the stem grow to your height limit then bend, with the tie a half foot from the tip to allow bending to the light. Patience when bending stems, don't worry if it takes 2 or 3 days to bend one down, the tip will have bent up already for you.

Crossing the stems of a topped plant when bending will allow them to follow their natural bow legged curves. This Bubblegum's stems weren't crossed and took over a week to train. If crossed I could have done it in a few hours.
