I've been doing a lot of research to start my first indoor grow...well, actually it's my second indoor grow, but I haven't grown since my college days, over 30 years ago.

I have an extra 10 x 10 bedroom which I'll use for the grow and decided on the SOG soil method for cultivation.

I plan on splitting the room in half - one for mother and clones and the other half, I'll build a flowering tent with mylar.

In my first indoor grow, I inadvertantly stumbled across the "sog" grow by leaving a brief vegging plant (4 weeks, ft. tall) which flowered like crazy with one huge cola.

I had a 1000w metal halide which I used in a small 4 x 4 closet with scrog and I managed to grow some really good skunk back in the early 80's when nobody had even heard of the strain.

But, I want to use cfl's this time and was wondering, if anyone had any experience with this light selling on Amazon for 92.00 with free shipping. http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-FLT24-4-Tube-Commercial-System/dp/B002JQBQZQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1389025964&sr=8-1&keywords=t5+grow+lights

How many plants could I grow under that light?

Are all cfl's basically the same in that I can buy these bulbs anywhere like Home Depot and it won't make a difference as long as I get the right "k" rating - 6400k for veg. and 2700k for flowering?

Would it be even cheaper to just make my own light by buying the light fixture and bulbs, and assembling them on my own?

Right now, I'm not looking to get the most yield or maximize my space, I want to start out small and then expand if needed.

I can't believe some of the grow journals I've seen with cfl's...unbelievable, did not think that this was possible.

Also, can someone give me an idea of electric cost for one of these lights and since this has practically no heat, do I still need major ventilation...can I just open the window to air it out for a while.

Yes, I'm definitely going with the 8 lamp 4ft. size instead.

I just saw this amazing t5 scrog video, and the guy said he used "slimline" 8 bulb 4' from HTG.

I think he meant slimstar instead of slimline...could not find slimline on HTG.
Here's the link from HTG Supply: http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-SlimStar-4-Foot-8-Lamp-High-Output-T5-Fluorescent

Also looking at this one on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/ft-F54T5-HO-Fluorescent-Spectralux-Included/dp/B003E776OO/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1389049940&sr=8-12&keywords=t5+grow+lights

Anyone had any experience with these particular lights, especially the one from Spectralux?

how much heat would one of these produce...would I have to worry about heat at all?

Hey im a new grower but I have done months of research. I did my first grow under a 8bulb 4ft bad boy t5. I ran it 24hr for veg and flower it was a auto grow. Dual spectrum the whole grow pulled 2.8zips. I only had heat issues with a 4x2 tent with no a/c mid summer. Temps were around 87 degrees on side high. I think the tent was to small. I ran it again during winter in my garage around (15degrees constant) and temps stayed at about 65 degrees. Heat is a minor issuse to deal with imo. I run a 600w now and use my bad boy for veg

Hey, which brand of t5 lights did you buy?

Do you have pics from your grow?
