Is this a good Bubbleponics system ?

Do you have a local hydro store? The pots can be ordered online. You can also get a better rubbermaid tub that will not be as likely to leak. The rest is easy, air pump, air line, air stone. If you don't have a drill use a razor blade . . .:peace:
 
For $50 it's not bad.

It looks like it should work. I would go to Walmart & pick up one of their Dual port air pumps and get an extra airstone. Two airstones are needed in that tub.

So go to walmart and say. Im looking for a Dual Port air pump and an air stone.

I know why I need the Dual port air pump but what is the air stone for ?


EDIT> An airstone is a device attached to the end of a hose from an airpump for releasing many small bubbles of air instead of fewer bigger ones. Some of them are actually made of coarse natural sandstone, others are made of pressed and glued grains of coarse sand, or synthetics, plastics, ceramics, even wood. All of them are for aeration or moving water up a lift tube. Some people think the stone actually forces air into the water but that's not so to any appreciable extent, the real air exchange takes place at the water surface, a moving water surface exchanges more gas and the aeration is to move the surface and circulate the water. The airstone makes a soft fizzing sound that can barely be heard instead of the louder Bloop Bloop of big bubbles. The air stream moves the surface and circulates the water in a constant gentle stream instead of causing weird waves and periodic more powerfull currents that bother the fish. In a lift tube, to or from a filter for instance, the finer bubbles actually move more water than big bubbles. There are also stones for decorative purposes, a narrow one as long as the tank placed against the back wall makes a of wall of risning bubbles that looks sort of like a water fall. The stone can become clogged over time reducing air flow and straining the pump. Small ones are cheap and can be replaced. Larger ones can be boiled for a while which does help. Yum. yum airstone soup.
 
No one ever asks what you going to use a fish pump for at walmart ....lol.... And ya If your worried that you Don't know how a complete DWC Setup Should Go, The extra 25$ may not be a bad investment.. To get it in one box as a complete kit with everything you need in it..But In reality You can make a nice one yourself for half that at least.. It's just a Glorified Fish Tank, With 3 major Parts .... (1)The Tote with holes in the lid for pots ,(2)The Pump,(3) And the air stone. It gets set up just like a fish tank would be to keep fish happy and breathing only it works for plants.....

There is also a water pump that feeds each net until the roots are well establish in the water.

Check out the bill of material.
 
Before you spend $1.00, I would read through Roseman's journal and listen to Bluey here. Don't waste money. Spend some more time reading and studying here so you really understand what the components of the system do, the types of materials you can and shouldn't use, and what is needed and not needed. Hope this helps, just my two cents!!
 
20 gal res=7 bux...hardware store
2 ecoplus dual valve air pumps=27 bux...u dont have to have these exact, but in my opinion you need 4-6 airstones for 20 gal or larger
4 6 inch airstones=5 bux...ebay or hydro store
4 foot of airline= 1 buck...hardware store
5 3 inch net cups=3 bux...ebay, hydro store

You could buy the system complete if you really wanted to, but theres no better satisfaction than doing the work yourself. It really makes you appreciate the time and effort that you put into your set up. Plus you find ways to make things more efficent, in my opinion take that list go to lowe's or home depot and make it happen. You can read how to do something, but your never really going know unless you make it hapen from the ground up.

I agree 100% what you're saying, but the guy/gal doesn't even own a drill and would rather spend a couple of dollars to get a plug & play system.

I was the same way when I 1st started. I didn't know shit about hydro; so buying the SH system, along with Roseman's thread, I was able to learn how everything works and from there I built my own Ebb & Grow controller/system.

Some of us just need to get through the learning curve prior to building our own systems.

True DWC doesn't have that that makes it bubbleponics The splattering of water droplets and A Spray bottle for the Top will do just fine
