Hi

I was thinking of getting a 300 watt LED grow light for my 3x3 and 6.5 tall grow tent.

but I was thinking mybe thats a bit to much. because they say that the 300 watt LED is the same as a 1300 watt HPS or HID light and its only a 9 square foot tent. you have to keep in mind that there is no heat to damage the plants

I'm not an LED guy, but saying that a 300 w panel equals 1300 w HID is tough for me to believe, is that a manufacturers claim? In addition to that, I had a gro partner try the LED and he got so pissed at the sorry performance that he pitched them in favor of M/H - HPS. Before you drop the dough for the LED's I'd get some independent opinions on them as apparently there is a wide range of them out there & only the very high end ones work that well. Lots of very experienced people here, ask around.
Just for comparison sake I run two 600w HID's in a 7.5x2.5 closet with very nice results.

I don't recall the specifics of the grow, he's several thousand miles away & just kept bitching how my plants were like double the size of his. The LED buds were very light & airy, mine are solid and huge (same strain, I provided the beans).
There are some real guru's on here, just cruise around & maybe even start an LED thread just to see what is said about them.
Like I said, he was pissed he wasted his time & I'd save you the pain if possible my friend.

Who is the company?

What's the return policy?

I went through prosource for mine

http://www.prosourceworldwide.com/

90 days to get a full refund

I have the 180W UFO and it rocks, there are a few people using them - LED lights on this site I would look around and find out what is working for people before spending the $$$$

Good luck

What I have read about LED's is that the first ones that came out sucked balls. Now they are saying that the wavelength problem has been fixed and a 90 watt LED is just as good as a 400 watt HPS... I don't know and wouldn't spend the money until I'm 100% sure they work. Maybe in a couple years.

cfl's suck balls I have never seen a good crop come out of cfl's yet.. I have seen some alright crops on LED's but the ppl that use LED's dont put there lights close enuff to there plants they always keep them way to far away and the LED's you can put 2 inch's away from your plants with out harming them because there is no heat at all

Not sure if you have ever grown with CFLs but they work just like other lights. Maybe you just haven't seen the journals with hundreds of watts growing fat buds.

Yes you can put them 2 inches from the plant but
its more effect at 8-12" away

Leds do produce heat but minimal in most circumstances.

are these good LED's? Ideally you would want to mimic the suns rays for optimal plant growth right?

Is this good to cover 6 plants in a decent sized closet?

I've been recommeded the lighthouse blackstar. It's suppose to be the number one LED grow light sold.
