hi,

what i'm asking is.....

say i buy a pack of ten seeds, they all germinate and i grow them until they show signs of sex.

on the average will they be 50% male 50% female? or is one more common than the other?

is it very easy to turn a plant male/hermie?

thanks

It's like flipping a coin, it is supposed to be 50/50, flip the coin and see what you get.

Also unproven is the less stress the plant goes under the more likely it is to be female.

Hermies aren't easy to make happen, some strains are more predisposed to go hermie than others though.

In the long run, the seeds will end up with about 50-50 male to female. If you only buy one pack of 10, you could end up with 10 males. But if you bought a million seeds, most likely you'll end up with very close to 1/2 of each.

More than likely you wont end up with 10 males out of ten seeds, but it could happen. If I plant 10 seeds, I expect about 3 females that I am willing to flower. Sometimes I don't like how a plant grows, so I won't flower it. If it gets too tall, its too slow growing, etc.

If you order 10 seeds, expect about 3 plants to flower, and be happy if there are more. The first pack of seeds I ever bought, I ended up with 9 fems out of 10. Just remember, you only need one killer pheno and it has made the purchase worth it since that will be your mom.

not an expert but i would go fem seeds if your worried about sex.. herms are possible but not likely and you can take action if it happens to preserve your momma's. That is unless you want a specific strain and its not available in feminized...

Glad you are happy but I wish you would have had more females.

I bet you used the paper towel method didn't you ?

What does the paper towel method have to do with anything?

3 of 7 is 43% which is not bad. I've had go around where I end up with 9 of 10 female, and other times it 4 of 15. So it just depends on the seeds.

Because of the added stress of the paper towel method could cause a higher percentage of males, I doubt it ever gets proven but it seems to be that many people agree on the subject of added stress to the plant causes them to be male.
