is my timer going to melt?

i have a 1000w mh and a can fan on a home depot heavy duty digital timer. is this all good. rated for 1875w.

What wattage is the can fan? Its going to be based on the whole amount of wattage. If the light is 1000 minus 1875 you have 875 watt's left. Then subtract the wattage for the fan and voila'. You have the amount left over the timer can handle.

Or thats how it was described to me. There is a guy posting on here that says he is a bored electrician and to ask him questions. He is a better bet for a proper answer. And if his answer is different, please post it on here.
