I opened that link and I think its a typo, they probably meant 2500k. 25000k doesn't make any sense. If its blue though it wouldn't be 2500k, so now I'm confused. 2500k would be a good orange/red light, which is what you need for flowering. If it is blue than it should be a good veg light, but I doubt its 25000k color temperature...

Wait, is it like EXTREMELY blue? I looked at the link and they DO say blue spectrum, I had only read as far as the color temp before.

ok so i looked it up.. its a residential cfl BUT most have a bigger socket.(correct for your cfl?) the blue spectrum is ideal for vegging but the amount of heat your particular cfl gives off is WAY hotter than the typical 6500k (which is good enough). so if you are going to get this going, i would suggest some cooling and venting. if you cant afford the cooling and venting then take it back since it was about 60 bones and just get some 6500k and 2700k bulbs at target or walmart and use the rest of the cash on the grow ie: ph kit, nutes.. things of that sort.. good luck mr.

+Rep thats not a bad idea, if he can take it back that is. Organic nutes really help a grow, plus you could still get a couple 65 watts to replace it, I think that would be around 40 bucks so you'd still have some money to play with.

not 6400k....6500k's!! 65. its the magic number. although i dont know if it would make a big difference since its not too far off. but still dont take chances. go to walmart.

LA9 this thread is Niiiice!
Luda im not really trying to jack this thread really it should be kept as simple as possible. I cant really speak on the bulb u have mentioned id have to research that a lil first. It would be hard to believe they could effectively produce the proper amount of color spectrum emittence necessary that would be sufficient enuff for a plant during Each stage of growth for a plants life.
I was originally commenting on how nice this thread was cuz it basicly takes all the most current scientifically proven data and make its easy.
With that being said, Yes plants do use all light spectrums to grow obviously. With enuff light of any type i suppose u could grow a plant to smoke. But thru out a plants life span It grows and matures during the seasons of its environment. Whether next to the equator or not it all comes down to light being bent by the distance of the earth from the the sun that creates spectrums when it enters our atmosphere and distance from the sun also creates these seasons naturally.
Its been scientificaly proven that plants use mostly blue light spectrum (actinic ) to be exact, found in alot of m/h bulbs during early stages of life also found during seasons of spring and summer and fall. This spectrum is also found in hps and that cfl only tries to mimmick but works great if ur doing a stealth grow.
Its also been proven that during a plants latter stages of life adolescence, puberty and maturation. That a plant uses more Red light spectrum to mature and reproduce Which happens during fall and winter when the distance of the sun from the earth is greater.

Ok LA9 im done bro.
Hope this helps peeps out making decissions when building a grow.
Also heres a link to a thread to let peeps know that there are some very inexpensive alternatives to people when choosing there lighting as well.
