Hi guys am wondering about the ballast i bought as ive went from cfl to hps and got a 250 ballast and hps/mh. the weather has been bad and power has went on and off a few times this wouldent of been a problem with my cfl as when the power comes back on so does the light but with this ballast when power gos off and on the light doesent come on again and theres a hissing noise from the ballast the light will not come on again (after 30 secs anyway) unless i leave my ballast unpluged for 2-3 mins then when i plug it in again it works fine again. so am wondering if this is normal and maybe if i dont unplug the ballast at all will it come on itself after a few mins of hissing? or was i right to unplug and leave it for a few mins? cause if am away from home and it happens am worried it might not come back on or blow up lol thanks for any input.

Thats good to know its normal, but if i am away from home and its plugged in will it come back on itself or will it not come on again until i unplug and plug in again?

It's called a "hot start" not good for the bulbs, it will lessen life and lumens. Yes they will come back on if you are not there to unplug and plug again. They make a lighting delay controller for this, after a power outage it will put a 15 minute delay for the start so the bulb cools down, but they are around $75.
