Is MagicMushroomkit.ca legit?

Just want to give you guys an update. www.magicmushroomkit.ca is not a scam. When Covid first hit many months ago, I ordered a kit on their site. I guess everyone got the same idea and my kit took 3 weeks to get here, probably due to Canada Post overload due to Covid19. When I received the original Mega-You-Grow Magic Mushroom kit, it wasn't very fresh. I didn't have any time as I was expecting it to arrive earlier, I put the seeds in the fridge for a couple of weeks, the kit said use within one month or asap. So, this kit with the straw was a lot of work, the straw is bulky and you have to have a huge pot to boil all the straw in one shot. I got fungus gnats flying around in the dome, after 3 months of effort got nothing for my money and trouble. But wait, there's more, lol.

When I got in touch with them (www.magicmushroomkit.ca), they sent me a replacement kit, but they decided to send me the Coco Kit with four plastic containers instead of the original straw kit. As you can see from the pics, it worked out really well. It was much easier than the straw kit, this kit includes a five-gallon pale to mix it all up. You boil 4 liters of bottled water or I used my reverse osmosis filtered tap water, regular chlorinated tap water not recommended! Followed the instructions, added the Coco brick , the vermiculite, and the boiling water to the bucket, while the seeds waited in the fridge. Then, I put the lid on (provided) and mixed it up a bit, but it was really hot, so I waited until the next day for it to be cooled, then I shook the bucket really well. Then, I added the seeds from the fridge, mixed it all up again. Then I divided the contents of the bucket into the four plastic containers. I put the lids on the four containers (provided) and I put them in a dark closet for 15 days, never even looked at them. I have limited space, so I put two of the plastic containers in the bathroom under a light and switched the other two containers every 12 hours. Twelve hours of darkness, 12 hours of light. Oh yeah, before you put them in the light, you have to remove the lids from the plastic containers and put each one in a plastic bag and tie the top with a twist tie.

As you can see by the pics, it all worked out well. Had so many shrooms I wasn't sure what to do with them all, but since they are 90% water, they shrunk quite a bit when I dried them out, lol. I made some desiccant by cooking Epsom salt and adding it to the bottom of the air tight jars to store the shrooms long term after they were dried.

I can honestly say that www.magicmushroomkit.ca is not a scam and I highly recommend the Coco Kit, didn't care much for the straw kit. Check out the pics. Got 100's of shrooms out of it, lol.

Definitely not a scam!
How long after putting it in fruiting did it take to harvest

Timeline for my Coco kit:
Dec 31 Placed order
January 7 Order picked
January 13 Order arrived via Canada Post. Prepped coir\verm mixture.
January 14 Mixed spawn and substrate into shoeboxes lidded and into opaque tub w\lid.
January 26 Transferred to fruiting conditions.
February 1 Pinset.
Feb 5 Picked 14g. Ate 'em fresh.
Feb 6 Picked 165g. Wrapped in damp paper towel, into fridge to dry with balance.
Feb 7 Picked balance. Total 752g wet 56.5g dry total first flush. Did spore print to grain transfer x2 jars using lid method.
Feb 8 Dunked cakes 8h, back to fruiting conditions.
Feb 15 Picked 152g. Wrapped in damp paper towel, into fridge to dry with balance.
Feb 16 Picked balance. Total 585 wet 40.95g dry second flush. Dunked, back to fruiting.
Hangers on from second flush picked 17th, side pins from second flush fruited and picked 18th, last fruits picked 21st. 380g wet, likely will dry to about 30g. Not sure if I will bother trying for 4th or chuck it to compost. B+ colonizing spawn for 18 days now will likely go to shoeboxes in 3-4 days, will be adding worm castings to sub. Inocc'd grain with Ban Hua Thanon yesterday.

Hope that was useful.

Interesting comments and thread. I was interested in ordering a kit from magicmushroomkit.ca, so I am glad to see the feedback here.

From what I gather, the recommended growing kit is the Coco kit? I don't have much time to invest in gathering different equipment and materials here and there, so I assume the Coco Kit is the best option?

Thanks

This is about a dollar max worth of materials. it will produce over an O cracker dry. You guys need to look into WBS to bulk. Kits are a huge ripoff for something that’s so easy to do.

Also a cube is a cube the only ones that are stronger that are cubensis, are the penis envy varieties. Otherwise, there are exotics that are much stronger than cubensis, but are harder to grow.

Look. With the possible exception of one site, any "company" professing to sell to those in the three forbidden states, they are opportunistic scams.

Imagine the business. Folks in California are itching to get some spores. Site after site refuses to send them because they are legitimate businesses.

WAIT! here is a site that states that it doesn't care about the state laws.

Of course, they cannot take credit cards because....of course again, the credit card companies would quickly refuse to service them because...of course yet again, its illegal to send them to California so.

Bitcoin is ok.

Mail order is ok

And cash is just fine. No coins please.

Order and we will wait for delivery of your funds before we never ship anything because we don't have any spores or syringes and never did.

But look, we have three entire states filled with folks who are willing to send us money.

its a clever little scam. You going to contact the California better business folk?

"I tried to buy a substance illegal in my state and they stiffed me"

they only ship within Canada.

Sorry, didn't see this until today. The two shoeboxes that I did in the bags I did not touch until harvest, they came out fine.

Hit redddit and sign up if you haven't, look me up. I can recommend some threads for your next grow and legit Canadian vendors for spores/live culture. The threads are way more active and the community is more inclusive.

Don't order order from these guys, they are a scam. I bought a kit from them, worked on it for 3 months, got nothing for my troubles. Waste of time, it's a scam.

The original message was posted by me, before the company contacted me, I posted several comments afterwards to correct this post, they are a legitimate and gave me excellent support by providing a replacement kit. If your looking for a mushroom grow kit in Canada, this is the right business to deal with, they are honest.

Just wanted to share my experience with Magicmushroomkit.ca. In my experience, absolutely a ripoff. I made my purchase based on this forum and how they took care of the OP. But that's not how they do things for everyone else. I am down over $300 because of this company and have nothing to show for it.
I bought the Coco kit a few weeks ago and followed instructions to the letter. My wife and I read them 4 times, obsessively cleaned everything as instructed, gloves, sterilized tools etc. In a few days there were puffballs, not proper colonizing. Emailed pics to Magicmushroomkit.ca who tell me "It's fine, just keep going" Posted the images on a mush forum everyone says its bunk.
So idiot me despite all evidence to the contrary wait the 12 days then start fruiting. Every bin, not just one, every bin turned green within 10 days.
I emailed them expecting a replacement. You know what you get? a FORM LETTER offering LIMITED TIME 60% off your next purchase! Their product fails, but you are welcome to send them more money. But do it in 14 days or it expires.
I replied back "Nice scam, you got me once but not twice" and they just ignored it with no reply.
Can I prove they are a scam? No but they did outright lie to me when I asked if their product looked right, and they do send a form letter with a limited time coupon if your stuff fails like mine. You wont get a replacement like the OP in this thread. The only reason he got a replacement was his post got indexed in Google and it hurt the company. Everyone else gets a discount coupon. Just a heads up for anyone who reads OPs account which was opposite to mine.

To be fair, contamination is not customarily the fault if the vendor.

Further, unless the contamination has begun to bear spores it is exceedingly difficult to distinguish contamination from legitimate mycelium.
Now unless there is a common vector such as a contaminated instruments poorly washed containment (probably not an issue given your post) or free flowing highly contaminated air (or water I suppose) then I posit that your syringes were originally contaminated.

I always test syringes using agar. I am not suggesting you do this but I only state it as explanation. I have had on multiple occasions, contaminated spore syringes.

Now at what point did you initiate fruiting? Did you do so before your substrate was fully ccolonized? If you did not then infection is a certainty.
