Is it wrong for a Christian to Smoke Weed.

oh and whats sad is that, the roman catholic church still contests to their actions in the past, and still will never admit that they were wrong. but thoes are people. and they are not god. so i listen to the gospel for my answers. and it dont make me any less of a christian or less of believer to say that the church made some horrible mistakes in the past and continue to do so to this day.
I also tend to not trust organized religion, but I consider myself a spiritual person.

Spirituality has always been a major part of most peoples lives, regardless of the religion, it's only recently and only in the united States that atheists seem hellbent on destroying the religious believes of others.

But to get back on point Rastafarians believe in Christianity, and the smoke weed.

Why don't all you white liberals all go down to Jamaica and insult the Rastafarian's and see how well your message is received? lol

(thought i would throw my own comments in here because everyone else has!) I do honestly beleive that anyone has faith is cool and that if that is what the truly beleive - well that's just dandy. But really, come on people, there aint a god. I have one question for anyone who is a beleiver : How old is the earth?

The bible says it's around 6,000 to 10,000 years old. Well we all know that the earth os around 4.5 billion years old. Many religeous people will answer that by saying that our 'dating methods' are inaccurate and can't be trusted. Sure carbon dating has some flaws, but there are many ways to date rocks, fossils etc. And when you are looking at the question of how old th earth is, they all roughly point to the same date, around 4.5 billion years old. There are several atomic clocks in the world and they all point to the same date.

We know that Dinosaurs walked the earth at some point, no body can dispute that - the evidence for their existance is overwhelming. If believers DONT trust our dating methods then why do we not find human remains with dinosaur fossils? Surely if these two species existed side by side we would find them together.

And my last point. Charles Robert Darwin's research gave us the theory of how species evolved over an immense period of time and his research showed how all species are related to each other on one great family tree. His research has now been PROVEN by discovery of genes.

I have seen the genetic code of a human and an ape spread out in long lines of code side by side. The code is massive and our genetic code is so similar to that of an ape, with just a few differences in the code here and there. It is amazing and more people should at least look at the evidence.

Like I said i don;t have a problem with those people who beleive in a God or a creator. But if you genuinly take a look at the EVIDENCE and Im not talking about just listening to people like me or other experts, but if you take a look at the evidence for yourself it is truly overwhelming.

We were not 'created' by some higher power who looks over us, dinosaurs were real, the earth is a damned site older than 6000 years, all species are related (proven by DNA), species evolve over long periods of time (and sometimes short periods of time - google it), humans are not some 'special' species and Darwin was right.

And in answer to my mans first question, some 300 or so pages back, YES smoke as much as you want. Cannabis is a natural plant, created by nature, evolved of millenia and is related to other plant species.

yea but why does is matter? i mean honestly, if you dont believe in god or wtvr thats cool, but whats the point of trying to prove other ppl wrong? thats like if we were in a group of christians and i ask you " is there a god?" and you say no, then we all laugh at you and show you how completely wrong you are. it dosent matter what you believe, as long as you believe somthing. people have to understand that just because they dont believe in the things you do, dont mean they are wrong or misguided. when it comes to long history, nobody knows for sure what happend. u can say well yeah they have all these methods of counting carbon and this that and the third. but who's to say its right? who ever came back from the past and told us that we were right. nobody. so no matter how you put it weither its faith or scientology, its all just what we believe. but nobody well ever know for sure because of the time that we live in.
Religion is a form of narcissism......
if thats the case than so is non believing...................

i think the reason people have a problem with religion is because of the history of it. God did not create religion, just as He did not create time or hate. Man created all those things for themselves as a way to make sense of it all and to put a description to it.

. . .also i think the people who have a negative opinion of religion don't understand the fact that God is in your heart (not a church/religion). You have to change your heart and mind to understand God, and Jesus. Love, not romantic love but human love, is at the front of Gods desire for us. Love yourself, Love others. Not with this television love, or fleeting relationship love but with a love that is not selfish, and only cares for others.

. . . if you have questions about God, Jesus, the Spirit, just ask.

. . . for people who don't care about this Christian stuff then step aside and let others figure it out without you ruining the concept. Isn't that what ruined it for you?

you dont need a religion to be a good person and care for others if you do then you dont get it and probably only do the right thing out of fear of punishment. i will say it again if religion did not cause murder hatred and persecution i would not care to argue with people as to each there own but christians effect my life with insane laws and general backward thinking that is wrecking this country. religion is a crutch for weak minded individuals who cannot think through things based on there own life and experiences. most religious people on these threads assume all who post against religion are atheists i personally am not one. people hate religion because of the destruction it causes mankind world wide.

Encyclopedia of Wars by Charles Phillips and Alan Axelrod documents 1763 wars, of which 123 have been classified to involve a religious conflict.3 So, what atheists have considered to be "most" really amounts to less than 7% of all wars. It is interesting to note that 66 of these wars (more than 50%) involved Islam, which did not even exist as a religion for the first 3,000 years of recorded human warfare.

War and Religion

A slew of books by "evangelical" atheists have claimed that most of the world's suffering (including most wars) are the direct result of religious differences and the discord that it fosters. Such statements are seldom backed up by real evidence (other than citing a handful of wars that seem to be the result of religious differences).1 Does religion really lead to war?

For me it's not about proving religeon wrong or saying that beleivers (as i call them) are wrong. If you read my post i do say that i have never had a an issue with anyone who has faith.

And Im certainly not in to scientology as someone said above. I am a human being who wants to understand the world around me. As for god being in your heart, blah blah blah....that's rubbish. I have love, oodles of it, I am a pretty happy person, I love people around me, I love nature, i love alot of things. I am a good person and have very little hate in me.

I want to understand the world and how it works and rather than beleiving a book that has not particluar historical authenticity and rather than beleiving something simply because others do for me seems crazy. I want to see the evidence, I want to touch and feel it, I want to experience it.

And for the chap above who says none of know what happened because we were not there and that the dating methods we have cant be proved right is not correct. Scientists can date the tiny crystal molecules found in rocks by analysing the amount of radiactivity they have accumulated over a period of time. This method is extremely accurate and has been proved accurate by cross dating those rocks with many other forms of dating (carbon G) etc.

Those fantastic bunch of rocks you have in the US of A called the Grand Canyon? The rocks have been dated using radiactive dating (the amount of exposure they have had to radiation) and then scientists have carbon dated fossil remains of plants and animals and BOTH methods point to the same date. But it's not just that evidence we have. Look at the species of similar animals that live in (for instance) the Galapogas Islands, where the same species have adpated to life in different ways. One one island you will find the Galapogas Indor bird (think i have spelt that right) who can fly and fish and do the normal things other brids do, and on another Galapogas Island just a few miles away the same species, the same in every way other than the bords don't fly at all??? Why would a Creator creat two almost identical bird species - one that can fly one that can't. The answer is they weren't 'created' they both evolved from a common ancestor. The bird that doesn't fly has no natural preditors (there are very few lizards and snakes on this particular island) and it has a plentiful food supply right on the land, thus it has no real need to fly. Amazing.

The evolution of species is a phenomenon that is real and can be quite easily seen even today. Darwin was facinated by Pigeon breaders who in a contolled way are 'evolving' species of pigeon. They are controlling natural selection. In this case WE are choosing the elements of the birds we favour not nature. And the more we bread those pigeons, eventually the end result is so different to the original ancestor the breader started with, we have a new species.

My whole point is t ask anyone who beleives in a creator, a god ro whatever to pause for a moment and consider the FACTS. Don't just say "well we had to be cereated to that's it" - take a moment to review the evidence.

Remember that back in Darwins time (1859 being the publication of The Origin of Species) the Church called him a evil doer and a satanist. He wasn't evil and he wasn't a satanist (satin is no more real that a god). Today of course the Church says that evolution is a fact of nature (this is not a debate any longer) and now they say that evolution of species is god's hand at work!!! Says it all for me

Yeah, things like this have got to make believers think "hang on a minute".

Dont Christians also believe that dinosaurs were planted on the earth by the devil to cloud our judgement.... Please.

Noah's arc... Come on people.

One day long ago, man looked around and came to the 'assumption" that "I must be it". Religion soon followed.

Man came first, religion second.

Nice display of ignorance!

Christians don't think like the last 3 posters

Our Religion teaches that we are not capable of saving ourselves, and can do little good without Gods help.

why would men make up a system that makes them less powerful? this proves God is in charge of Christianity, not humans.

loooooooooooooooool i just read something funny on a christian board :

http://www.christiananswers.net/q-dml/dml-y017.html

something about a dude hitting his girl after she hit him :) lool, the answer is hilarious...

i'll quote :
I think we have to begin, Michael, by asking the question: "Why did this happen?" Let's look at the situation closely. To begin with, I can't overlook the setting. You said, "...we were in her bedroom, lying on her bed..."
Whoa, right there, Michael. You and your girlfriend have no business being in that situation, lying side-by-side, in her bedroom, on her bed. Talk about putting too much emotional pressure on a relationship.
what the fuck is he on about.. if he wants to lay on her bed i think he can looooooooool !!! christians... so anyone follow these rules ?

lol

I am quite aware that the "religious" don't think that way. One of the big problems with them. They can't face the facts. They need to think man is special somehow, that there is a man behind the curtain pulling the strings.

Yes, one of the BIG problems.....

Are you kidding me?

Is that what it comes to now?

A few churches.... like they aren't one in the same. they are ALL a reflection of Christianity. It is Christianity which is the problem, not just a few sects.

The corruption is so deep and varied over time, I think it would be impossible to distill the real church from the polluted pool.

Yes, it is. Let's switch to nazis...... not all nazis killed ppl, yet being a nazi is considered bad.

That fits quite nicely with the church, who has killed millions.
