No imo. Co2 should only be used for big indoors operations. It's not needed for small cultivation

I was reading that even if the room isn't 100% tight it will still work as long as the hose is close to the plants.

This is what you need
It cost me $140 for the valve on ebay, the 50lb tank cost $60 bucks a year to rent & its $19 for refills. I rent it from a welding supply store. You want co2 not beer mix. It'll cost a little more up front but it's worth it.

what you need is a co2 generator. It burns propane and releases pure co2. they are bout 200 bucks. they last a long ass time on one tank.
