Is it possible to store clippings?

Is it possible to store a clipping so that it can be replanted/cloned say 6 weeks later?

ive never tried it myself, but ive read of a guy who cuts them longer than needed. puts them in a bag with the cut end in water and puts them in the fridge. when he took them out he just recut them. i dont think he stored for 6 wks, but he stored them. like i said, ive never tried it, but ive heard of it.
