is foxfarm ocean forest soil really worth it??

is it worth it to buy ocean forest soil. The only place i can buy it is off of amazon which costs 20 bucks and another 25 bucs for shipping. Or can i successfully grow in regular potting soil
 
Yeppers! what are you waiting for?That has fish by products in it and it is a really complete soil that feed your veggies while they grow...FOXFARM A DAMN GOOD CHOICE!
 
FF Ocean Forest is full of great stuff, but $45 a bag.... wow, i dunno. I buy it locally for $10 a bag. I would consider looking around for something without time release fert., and invest in good nutes. I love the stuff, but $45 a bag...wow.

Good word of advise Fiender,i have never spent no more than 10-15 bucks for any ferts! I never buy online for ferts. It's better for me to build up a repoire with my local grow shops (they smoke too)and if i need anything they have it or they will order it.
 
u should be able to get the fox farms cheaper from any local hydro store
id go with coco and add 40% perlite and use coco ferts (hell any ferts work) u treat it like hydro and use 1.2 ec with veg and 1.8 with flower and keep the ph between 5.8 to 6.2
 
I've been using MG and switched to FF Ocean Forrest this grow and the early returns are very impressive. It is quite evident that Marijuana LOVES Foxfarm. I usually don't buy into the hype of soil and nutes but this is one time the product lived up to the hype.

Now, with that said, $45.00 a bag is a hell of a lot of hype! I believe you can find it cheaper from a local dealer. If not, find a nursery and talk to them. They will have a good soil that they sell for probably 10-15 a bag.
 
start brewing your own tea bra! good tea makes good buds, its easy and pretty cheap. I go with sunshine mix and brew your tees, they sale earth worm castings put them in your filter airate yor filter while brewing and bam you made your own organisc as fuck nutrient. and your plants will love you ! pm me and I will explain.
 
FF is good but...45 a bag, i think i pay like 13 something at the hydro shop. just get something without a time release formula. or get some cheapo stuff af buy a ton of worm castings online and mix them...idk...but i wouldn't say 45 a bag would be a good option
 
i found a site that's much cheaper and has free shipping. I have another questions the soil comes in two sizes a 12 Qt for 10 bucks and then there's a full bag for 25 bucks. Is 12 Qt bag enough for me to grow ten plants
 
This year I tried PC (President choice) in Canada...mixed with pro-mix and my plants are great...maybe biggest ever......Foxfarm has a name, but really any PREMIUM soil mixed with perlite or pro m...

It depends on how big, but I wouldn't personally go any smaller than two gallons per plant.

There are four quarts per gallon, so a 12qt bag is only three gallons.

Are you in BFE or what? Soil is something that you are just going to get ripped off for if you have it shipped to your door. Even if you are able to find a garden store or some other hardware store that gets regular shipments, you can probably get them to special order it and have it come on their regular truck, which will save you shipping.
 
I didn't think there would be any hydro places near me so I didn't even think to look for them. Big mistake, wish I had, 'cause I bought MG soil and WAY too expensive pots before I knew I shouldn't. When I looked up hydro shops they were all over the place.

Still cost me $20 for 1.5 cubic feet but I was paying $13 for 1 cubic foot of MG so it's not that bad I guess.
 
My experience with fox farms soil is that you still need to start the plants in an "unconditioned" potting mix for a few weeks then move them to the soil. That soil is still strong enough to burn seedlings.

it depends on which variety. Ocean Forest is strong. Happy Frog is milder, and Light Warrior is even lighter. HF is like a mix between the other two.

Interesting. Last year I used a potting soil on first seeds for a couple weeks then transplanted that and it worked really well. A few weeks later I started five more but went straight from germ to FF Happy Frog and none of them could survive. Everything was the same- same strains, same conditions, etc. I figured the FF was just too rich for the seedlings. I love the soil, I just figured it was that seedlings just needed a milder mix start.
