is foxfarm ocean forest soil really worth it??

ive only used ocean forest as far as soil goes.and even wuth there line of nutrients im up to full doseage with no burning

I guess this it the problem with so many opinions. I've NEVER heard not to use Ocean for seedlings until now so as a newbie I assumed that was the soil to buy, in fact all I've ever heard was, "Buy Fox Farm Ocean Forest Now! Now! Now!"

So now I hear not to use it on seedlings and I'm a bit miffed. I guess I really just have to go back to my don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see stance. I'll have ample amounts of salt ready to take with any advice I get.

- edit -

I'm now realizing maybe that's why people use rockwool...

use it and see for yourself, ive started countless seedlings in ocean forest and i never saw even a little yellow.

I def wouldnt pay the 45 bucks, getting soil shipped to you on anything less then a palet is retarded. Look for FF near you or any other local premium soil. Look for stuff without peat and myco bacteria.

Using it now on two seedlings under immediate 12/12 lighting and they are growing like champs. I also used 1/2 strength nutes and soaked the hell out of the soil prior to planting the germed seeds. I then use plain offgassed water, about a table spoon, at the base of each seedling each day to keep the roots moist.

i found a site that's much cheaper and has free shipping. I have another questions the soil comes in two sizes a 12 Qt for 10 bucks and then there's a full bag for 25 bucks. Is 12 Qt bag enough for me to grow ten plants

put up the sight you found that at please.....
I am stuck with MG for the same reasons and with free freight... now your talking real world... thanks

I'm lucky and have a place that makes great soil that has no added nutes to it...they also produce wormcastings as well and you can buy it already premixed in the soil...or just buy it seperatly, which i do. It's not cheap soil...but it's not expensive either...$8 for 22L bag...and ALL my houseplants and babies love the stuff...never any bugs in it cause it goes through a complex steralization process. I usually wouldn't buy stuff like that, but i used to work at the plant, and i know how picky they are.

if you go to the foxfarm site theres a tool you can use to find a dealer closest to you. for me its like an hour away. and that kinda sucks balls. was like 25 in store for me. i would recommend it. this was my first grow and i think the soil probably made it easier on me. id like that link to if its 25 a bag free shipping, that beats 25 a bag and gas back and forth hour each way... +rep for that link buddy!!!
