That's it? Nothing in the water, and no rooting hormone dip?
Nothing but water.
That's it? Nothing in the water, and no rooting hormone dip?
Nothing but water.
I've started a new batch, and based on what's been offered here and from TurboKlone's
support people, here's what I'm doing:
- well water - meter says about 75ppm dissolved solids
- pH adjusted to 5.7 with phosphoric acid
- 5ml of 3% H2O2 added to tank (~13 liter capacity)
- reservoir heater set to 72F
- cuttings abraded about an inch up from the cut and dipped in Wilson's rooting gel
- planning to leave dome on for about the first week
- beneath pair of T12 tubes
Here's my concern: Room ambient temp is in the low 60s, and that's given me a
temp under the dome of about 68F. Is that too low? Should I add some heat to
it (maybe shining an IR light on the outside of the dome) to bring it up? If so, to
what?
you dont need a humidity dome when doing this kind of cloning.
your temps are probably hurting you as well.
get the lights as close as possible to try to keep them warm. leave the lights run 24/7 and pump 24/7. and try to get the water temp up. are you cutting the tips of the leaves off? i suggest gettign on youtube and watching a couple videos.
EZ Cloner 8 station, Clonex Gel, Clonex solution and tap water. Run pump 24/7 for 7 - 10 days under 125w CFL.
It's dry here. Very dry. TurboKlone's support suggested leaving the dome on for the first 5 days or so.
Which temp(s)? The water temperature is 72F, exactly what TurboKlone recommended and verified by others here. Do you mean the temp under the dome?
Lights are as close as they can be and the temp under the dome was still in the 60s, so I put an IR heat lamp about a foot away from the dome and put some foil on the outside of the reservoir so it wouldn't get heated up as well. That brought the dome temp up to 78F as suggested by previous poster.
Which youtube vids do you suggest?
Another question: Can anyone recommend a minimum stalk diameter to use as a clone cutting? I'm wondering whether the ones we're using are too skinny.
What are you feeding your mothers?
I had problems with my cloner in the beginning and then changed a couple of things.
A) Water temp should be around 72-78 degrees, my first runs the water was over 80 degrees.
B) Take clones from an established plant, I got ancy and took clones from 4 plants that were barely on their 6th node of growth.
I use straight tap water and no cloning solution, I do however let my water sit for a day or two in order to evaporate the chlorine. The main thing that helped the most I think was to take the cuttings from a mature plant, since doing that I have almost 100% success rate. I have taken 72 clones since then and only 1 has not grown roots.
I will say that some of my plants clone easier than others.
The Church, Spoetnik #1, White Rhino, Blueberry, Big Bang, and most recently Mataro Blue took from 10-14 days to grow 1/2 inch roots.
K-Train, and CannaSutra took about a week longer.
I gave you all the information to clone using an ezcloner. TBH the variables you talk about were never considered, My overall Op is a controled enviroment.I haven't tried Clonex, but beyond that you're not giving me much information. What's the humidity? Ambient temperature? Water temperature? Water pH?
i would get water temp up to 75. room temp 75-85 dont let it get cold.
what is dry? 40% humidity?
just search for aeroponic cloner on youtube lots of good info
If you go all the way back to the beginning of the thread, you'll see that on my first go I was using bottled RO water for exactly that reason. The water here is very hard - lots of calcium, and (I think) iron - but it's fine for drinking. The mothers are also feeding off of it, so we know there's nothing acutely toxic to the plants in there. The mothers are growing in dirt, though, so that's doing some buffering.
If this run doesn't work I may go back to the bottled RO water, but doing it once with well water seemed worth a try.
I do remember now that you were using RO. Are you able to tell if these temps you mention are constant during the evening etc? What sort of fluctuation are you getting whilst you are not there?
