G'day all I was just wondering if anyone else is addicted to ebay as I am? I hate paying retail for anything, its just such a ridiculous mark up due to the exorbitant rent retailers pay, so I troll ebay like a sniper...

Just this morning, I have bought my son and brand new pair of Reeboks, for $11.00... That's insane!!!! I also bought myself a brand new pair of Nikes for $30.00 and they're pink.. :-) And I bought my husband a pair of New Balance for less than a quarter of the price I would pay here in Australia...$39.00..... :-)

I bought four thermometers for my grow rooms... If I bought them here in Oz, I would have paid $14.95 each, I bought FOUR and had them delivered for less than $20.00..... Yay capitalism....lol...

Has anyone else got some great ebay saving stories? Hit me with them....

Laceygirl...

Better enjoy it while it lasts. They just jacked the prices up on sellers again. Auctions are about to be history.

I'm becoming addicted to amazon, just because I've never used it before and really like some features, but I've had my days one the bay as well, especially when I was into sports cards I'd get two $50 boxes for like $40 bucks huge savings for sure

I bought a custom guitar on ebay. Supposedly 70 hours went into it. It's completely hand made in thailand, had floyd rose bridge, and some real nice pickups. Beautiful inlays, and an elaborate flower design around it in that reflective shell stuff.

I payed like $130 + $20 shipping. People are like "holy shit nice guitar! How much did that cost!?" and I'm just like, "about $150." - - - guaranteed jaw drop.

The paint does chip easy though, but thats fine. I kind of treat it like shit though, it's my guitar I take when I don't wanna risk bringing the nice one.

You hit the nail on the head. eBay is trying to keep up with the Jones'. With the new changes and fee hikes only the most high ticket of items will be feasible on auction. As a seller I ditched auctions when the economy fell but now they don't make sense regardless.

I really hate to say it, but eBay needs Meg Whitman back.

They,ve been saying that for years , hasnt happened.People are essentially lazy and ebay has some degree of trustworthyness now days with paypal protection. Its probably worth the extra couple cents for that.People often complain about ebays fees , any auctionhouse is going to take more.

I agree but it's not so much the fees this time but the structure. Not only did they raise the price of auctions but also lowered the visibility. Their also promoting merchant accounts over paypal and have moved it's buyer protection to eBay itself. That doesn't make much sense to me unless they have other plans for PayPal.

I think they're actually trying to make a bolder move. One that will organize all the big box stores and chinese wholesalers in one location.

From what i read they want to model themselves as another Amazon , totally 180 out from what made ebay so great. The Chinese wholesalers are everywhere on the bay now , one really has to be careful to check item location for even the most mudane and unlikely items.I was looking for a team USA jersey to send my nephew..yep..most of them are shipping from asia...unbelievable.

I've bought lots of stuff from Asia and I've had no problems...:-) I'm also in their region living in Australia... :-)

Tried that Bing.com deal yet??? If you're going to use "Buy It Now" on eBay, you can save 8% on your purchase...not a HUGE savings, but any bit helps, right?

Go to Bing.com and search "Wii". An eBay link pops up...follow the instructions and you get 8% Cashback into your Paypal. Hurry up though. I got an email saying the program will end forever at the end of June.

Fair enough mate , but a fake is still a fake and they are the #1 replicas people , i buy old coins and the amount of fakes on ebay is mostly down to the Chinese.
