Is a node required for clones?

I've done plenty of seed grows, but this is my first time cloning. Using rapid rooters and clonex gel, in tray with humidity dome.

Question: Does there have to be a cut node inside the rapid rooter? Or can the stem simply have a 45 degree cut and a little surface scraping?

45 at a node upped my cloning rate and ill never go back to not cutting there.

I use rapid rooters and clonex gel as well. I always make the 45 degree cut about a quarter inch under a node and ive had about 90 percent success rate.

I've been wondering the official consensus on this. I always try to have a node but sometimes it's hard so good to know it's not necessary

Thanks for all the replies! And while I got ya'll here, what's your preferred lighting for clones?
I put my fresh clones under one T5 flouro light. Its 6400K at 25 watts, and i do 24 hours of light until rooted. Normally have the light about 20 inches above the clones. With my experience you dont really need a bunch of light.

could someone tell me if they feed nutrients when they have a couple roots pop out in the rapid rooter?
i find when i transplanted rooted ones to rockwool 5.5-6.3ph and 200-380ppm that it stalls and doesn't grow or take up anything, should i be feeding much less until i see the cuttings going almost yellow at the top?

I feed my clones quarter strength, i feed with Clonex clone and seedling nutrient. I do that for about 2 weeks after roots show then into soil where i feed half strength with veg+bloom.

I wait until I have roots popping out of the rooter, then I feed them at full strength, not complicated. Use a pH of about 5.8 since they are hydro at this point. I know a lot of ppl say not to do that but it has always worked just fine for me. Make sure you give them more light after you do this. They need it once they have roots.
