i mean essentially…

i need PVC, panda film, and zippers. isn’t that it in a nutshell?

i just feel like i could make the perfect size tent for my space if it’s actually worth it.

anyone done a DIY grow tent this way? any tips?

I've never used a grow tent, but I understand that it might be needed due to various pests and inclement weather.

Without a doubt, tents usually improve the quality of cannabis. However, the cost of building materials and utilities may be something to consider. How much does good flower mean to you?

I'm gathering the same supplies right now to do this. What did it for me was looking on fb and finding lower rated pvc for $1 a sick. I've been buying a fitting or 2 every time I go to the hardware store. Which seems to be every week. Was planning panda film too but was looking into those reflective Styrofoam sheets too. They're only $10 a 4x8 sheet. I haven't done the math but I don't think it'll take more than 7-10 sheets. It'll insulate, and I was planning on keeping a portable ac and dehumidifier in there. I was building mine like a cage. With "studs" every 2 or maybe 3 ft. And then another horizontally maybe halfway up. The ceiling is going to be a grid. For strength and stability. I'm was planning on an 8x10x8 that I can build for under $200. I think it's a good idea. Post pics of you do it. I'll post on mine but it'll prob be later this year.

I diy'd my 3x3x6 tent with 1" UV resistant PVC, panda film, and double sided velcro tape. No idea how you'd attach zippers to panda film. It took a couple attempts to figure out how to wrap it so that no light gets in/out and it can be disassembled non-destructively.

It works for my purposes and is strong af, but if I had to do it again I'd probably just buy one.

Bet you've got zero light leaks. Put that in the + column.

You can buy a 8x10 grow tent for barely $50 more than your listed materials, and it will likely have a WAAAAY better hanging weight rating than a PVC pipe frame wrapped in panda film.

Just buy a tent, fellas.
My 8x4 was $140, my 4x4 $100 and my 2x4 was like $60 idk why people insist on making more work and costs for themselves than necessary. If you’re building a room that’s one thing but a tent lol

You could screw a heavy duty eye hook into one of the ceiling joists, and be able to hang 10x as much as any metal tent poles could hold up. Cover the hole with spackle later, especially if your renting.

Then, make your flimsy DIY tent frame go around a chain or rope that is hanging down, where you can hang all the heavy gear from.

Then you could use metal tape, and fashion together a box out of rigid foam insulation panels (4x8 sheets, perfect to make a 4x4), the ones with the shiny mylar side, towards the inside. Make a door panel that simply velcros to the front wall of the box for access.

You wouldn't need much of a frame if you build around a platform hanging from the ceiling. Just the tape to hold the panels together!

Can you hang a 20lb light fixture, multiple fans, an inline fan and other things from the ceiling of a DIY tent? I mean, it's your money, but to me time is worth more than money.

Not worth it.Buy the tent.If you are dead set on certain dimensions some 2x2's and foam board.

And on your videos.....to get focus on the buds you are holding close to the camera put your hand right behind the bud.Checked your channel out and referring to your wedding cake vid.

I wouldnt use PVC but if you got decent skills and access to cheap lumber, its a great option to get something built to your exact specs, with everything right where you want it. especially if you are in a space with funky dimensions.
