Is a 40 watt incandescent good enough for 1 plant?

I'm a beginner and have a 40 watt lightbulb.........incandescent btw. Is this good enough for my seedlings that have been germinated and planted in soil already?
PS: how much water should i give my seedling

even those would do better than a 40 watt incandescent, regardless of the spectrum, it's still better!(although cool white is preferred) and i usually water once a day, but it all depends on your soil and the size of your pot...a 15 watt cfl would put out as much light as, maybe 80 watts of incandescent, with only a fraction of the heat!

have you ever used one yourself??

orangish......

Shame. Those are good for the flowering stage. So by all means...you will use them...but you want the blueish light ones for vegging (beginning stage) Cool white is the generic name for the blue cfls and the color rating is about 6500 k. Warm whites are the generic terms for the orangish cfls. Their color rating is about 2700k.

You will need minimum of two 6500k (cool white) 23 watt (100 watt equivilant) cfls to veg a plant for the first month. REad the cfl sub-forum on this site.

yes, my 1st grow i started of with very, very little! i only had 2 13 watt cfl's 1 cool white(blue-ish), and 1 soft white(orang-ish), and that was all i had for the first 2 weeks! stretch like a motherfucker, but in the end i was able to salvage a dry ounce of each!

Use only 6500k for veg......they make your plant grow short and bushy........2700k-3000k expect to have a stretchy plant.....no matter how many you use the internodes will be spaced far apart..........they have packs of cfls at home depot for pretty damn cheap...incandescent have a good spectrum but are way too weak to do anything for plants...those low wattage cfls will do the plant more justice than that incandescent bulb

i know first hand about the stretch with 2700k cfl's, but the damage is minimal compared to the stretch caused by incandescent!
