you know anything about ABB A contactors? Gavita recommends using them, on the ballast. i looked them up and we have them at work but i've never wired one. i've just opened my box and read the booklet!

You want best distribution possible. I would put it right down the middle if your HPS wouldn't be directly in the way. Do your best to get even spread, can always go with 5% bulbs at double the number if that gives you better distribution, not as cost effective though.

I know nothing about ABB A whatever.

I would not use HID lights in a space as small as 2x4.. If I was stuck to a 2x4 I would prbly just use floro..

If I HAD to use an HID in a 2x4 space I would prbly either go with...
- (2) 400s
- (2) 250s
or..
- (1) 400 + flroro on each side

With an enclosed tent you definitely would want aircool with any HID. Assuming you can keep temp, humidity, etc all under control I bet you would yield the most with the 2 400s.. more complications though than a floro, probably.

I would never flower in anything less than a 6x4.. no matter what lights I was going to use. I've seen people do some cool stuff with little tubs and such.. That just doesn't interest me other than as a bystander.

at this point, cost effective is out the door! since i have the xtra light set-up, my gf suggested 2 tents! i love that woman. i have been wanting to try new things.
it this point, the final flower light set-up, will be a gavita 600e dialed backed to 400w w/ ushio bulb and a 4' t5ho w/ one 6500k & one 5% uvb placed on each side of the canopy.

I've got a 2x4 gorilla lite tent. Planning to run a fresh, outside, air loop to cool bulbs and my tent is in a 68-70 degree room with a 4" inline w/speed controler exhaust. I have 2 hoods that will fit but I don't want to bleach my girls. I think i can control the heat, but was wondering about the lights just being too much? Any thoughts?
Maybe 1 dimmable 600w in a cool tube on a light mover.

or you could use a couple Area 51 RW75 LEDs, then you wouldn't have to fight the heat and you'd get pretty good coverage from what I've read

If the OP is still around.. I think what you really should go with is 2 400s.. 2x4.. for sure,, if you are going to HID in that space 2 400s is your best bet,, maybe even 2 250s,, but I would go with 2 400s

Even with a light remover I would think a 600 is just over kill and not efficient for 2 ft of depth. Just my opinion tho.

I'll be buying 2 5% uvb's. after I flip, I'll have 2 6500k's & 2 5% uvb's on either side of my 400w hid. Right now, I'm having trouble getting my plants started. I've been able to get 2 plants out of the ground and a third is sprouting, now. One plant looks yellow (it's only 2-2.5 inches tall) and the other got caught, closed, by the film of the seed (it's 1.5-2inches) - now it's retarded looking! it's got new growth, so I'm hoping it'll straighten out!
I started this thread to help figure out how to set up my tent! Now I'm having trouble, just getting started! tried to germ in water, without researching. I started, what cracked, in unknown soil, now they are not looking like I want them to! I've already got some seeds in ffof. I used that soil, last time, so I know it'll grow plants!
I appreciate the help, guys. I've got to get there now! Thanks everybody!
you have 8 sqft in that space. So 40w max of UVB 10%. 1 of the 4 bulbs should be fine for UVB. The other 3 can be 6500k.

Personally I wouldn't use 3 gal pots , I would at the very least finish in 5 gal but 7 to 10 is ideal , Im a noob but my two local grow sensei's both tell me 3 gal is to small for full growth. just my .02.. good luck
