Iron Deficency?

4 plants, 30 days into flower, the one has almost completely yellowed and shed it's leaves, the flowers are burnt at the tips and pretty crispy.....the others three are starting to look yellow at the top, which happened first, then begin yellowing fan leaves from the bottom to the top.

My reservoir is only 7 gallons or so, the water evaporates fast and the ph is constantly rising, each evening I adjusted it from 6.2-6.4 to 5.7-5.9 I think the pH fluctuation caused sulfur to be locked out. When I saw the yellowing I thought N deficiency, so I raised the one part flora nova bloom to 1500 ppm. Then the other 3 started showing signs of nute burn, so I decided it was lock out and started flushing with fresh pH'd water 5 days ago. After 4 days the ppm had rose from 20 to 500. I traded for fresh water again last night and have been trying to keep the pH below 6.

Also, these are new 6" pots that only had 4 small holes at the bottom that the hydroton could plug. I noticed a few weeks ago the healthiest one has a huge pillow of roots under it and the others have little to none. I cut some windows in the pots thinking they were possibly root bound. It is a solid nest inside and they didn't come out. Last night I cut the bottom off the pot on the one that is in the worst shape....

The pictures show the yellowing process of the leafs, and some from today, then some from a week ago....

Does this sound accurate? What does it look like to you guys?

What nutes etc etc are you using and when, done a pH test yet? More details please, the plants look quite bad in some pics and can't work out which ones which.

I have been using floranova grow and bloom one part fertilizers; Used 300 to 800ppm in veg and then started mixing grow and bloom, 800-1000 ppm after switching to 12/12 then upped them to around 1500 when it started yellowing. I have also been using 1-3 drops of superthrive per gallon with 3 in the high ppm mix and 1 or 2 in every other.

I change the water every 5-8 days and try to keep the pH as close to 6 as possible. It normally stays between 5.5 and 6.5 but a full swing in 24 hours is typical

The one on the table is in the worst shape, that was it last weekend, it is in the front left position in the pictures of the four.

At first i thought it was a nute deficiency but now after hearing about the nutes reckon you got a nute lockout, i don't hydro grow, only soil but recognised a few things. Lets see what others say and sparkafire if he comes across this post!

Hey thanks man! You need a bigger rez period! Go get one the bigger the better! You have classic nute lock or burn take your pick because of the size of the rez Fix that and hope for the best, you are in that funcky time where you cannot do a lot to fix then problem other than the obvious. You could for a short time use your nute in a foliar spray to help get them back into shape but you are so far along you will just have to be careful and flush well. No fishy stuff :)

I thought it looked like nute lock but am out of my depth with hydro, nute overdose and nute deficiency all look the same to me a lot of times when it affects more than just a small part of the plant! Sparkafire you seem real good with the hydro stuff and seen you reply to a lot of threads and posts, thanks, can diagnose nute problems in hydro but can never tell what the cause is.

It was the size of the rez that told me what was wrong. 4 plants in a rez that size that far along is just toxic as fuck. The hydro kicks everyone's ass, mine more than once. I have more hours researching this shit than most I cannot even tell you how many but its a lot. Wanna get good? research other peoples problems that will speed up the learning curve for you. Have you read all of Al B FUCT's threads yet? That guy knows his shit and where I learned a lot from.

Yer part of the reason i am on here at the mo, use to come on here couple of years back but didn't need to anymore, now i need to to help work through a few of my own problems as you say and learn, i don't know what it is, if i look at other peoples problems i can see whats normally wrong but when i look at my own plants problems it take me ages to work it through and find out why she is getting sick! Strange i know but it works and i have sorted a lot out with my plants recently by seeing my problems in other peoples threads. Will look at that thread soon and see what i can take in. Cheers

Thanks for the tips, I will work on. a bigger res immediately. is the one part flora nova bloom adequate to feed these guys? Is there a point when I should just take down the plant in worst shape?

do you think they were root bound? Or just the ph problem caused the roots not to develop? I will try to snap some pictures of the root bed on the one healthy one and then pics of that plant vs plants without large root beds

Anyone? Im also thinking my light is too close. 400 watt Hps about 10-12" away, plenty of inflow, the temperature stays below 85 at the tips of the buds. Also it is not extremely hot to hold your hand at the top of the tips
