considering how fema failed the people in New Orleans why wouldn't the people be pissed off at fema and raise a little hell? are you saying that people in Iowa are better simply because they aren't raising a stink? sounds kinda racist to me.

Why is it only FEMA failed New Orleans? Did not the State of Louisiana and the City of New Orleans fail their citizens first?

Please define the term racism. Here's one: racist - Definitions from Dictionary.com
a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
YOU make the connection between race and the reaction of the two regions.

Welfare queens come in all colors. That's not racism.

In my opinion the honest difference is that iowa is predominantly White. This was not the case in NO. As such think about the things you're heard about. Was there any "looting" in Iowa? No, of course not. Because white people don't loot. They "forage" for survival goods. Crime is in the eye of the beholder.

Selah.
so working in logistics taught you that white people dont loot??

I believe if you re-read the post that's not what the poster was saying. I interpreted it to mean people tend to view white people as taking a loaf of bread as "survival" while they view black people as taking that same loaf of bread as "looting". (hence he poster saying crime is in the eye of the beholder)

I think the best example of this perception was shown in these two newspaper articles after Hurricane Katrina.

This was about as LOW and SHAMEFUL as you can get in reporting the news!

As far as I'm concerned.... in a DISASTER situation anyone OF ANY COLOR taking food to feed their families is SURVIVAL! Anyone OF ANY COLOR running out of stores with carts full of TVs, Video Game players, CDs... etc. is LOOTING! It really isn't hard to tell the difference!

IMO the media plays a HUGE role in keeping people's perception of different races in constant strife. Thank goodness for the internet as it has allowed people with no real public voice... just their computer and their blogs to easily call out the BULLSHIT when the media resorts to these tactics.

No. you misunderstand me. The mentioning my job was an introduction to the statement that people were TRAPPED in Iowa also, not just NOLA. My point is its a similar situation and yet the people who went through Katrina are judged differently because of income status and skin color. Hence, crime is in the eye of the beholder. "White people don't loot" was my attempt at being tongue in cheek, although i suppose sarcasm doesn't travel well across the internet.
