invisible yuck in my A/G tank

Thanks to those of you who suggested the algae problem because that's what it apparently was. I'm half blind and I couldn't see it through that little slit in the front. Fortunately the roots look okay. I guess God does protect fools after all. When I took off the lid full of babies the tank was gooey. No smell though. I cleaned it out, refilled it with nutrients and I'll keep and eye on it and report back.

One thing I hope will help keep the light out is that I cut some aluminium cup cake liners, put holes in the centers, slipped them over the stems at the bottom and inverted them at the base of the plants. They look like little fortresses. I figure the reflected light up can't hurt the lower leaves either. I had to tape a couple of them down because of the fan even though I'm only running it on low and oscillating.

I set the ph a little acidic, 5.6, since it seems to go to alkali pretty fast. I also added a half dozen drops of hydrogen peroxide to hopefully help stabilize the ph. What do you think folks? Thanks, Hank
