Introduction to the community

Alright, people! I want to take a second to say hello to everyone and give a little Cliff Note background on me and my goals.

I'm totally new to growing in the sense that I've been out of the loop for several years. My last grow was around 10 years ago -- maybe a little more. I only have a few cycles under my belt, but I'm about ready knock the dust of my light and get back at it.

I grow for personal use only. When I first started, there wasn't .01 of the information there is today. So far, this is the only forum of which I have signed up.

I was using -- and probably will start off with -- a 400 w MH and HPS with a built-in switchable ballast. Though I still have the bulbs, I will buy a couple of new ones anyway as they are much, much cheaper than they use to be. Also, the newer MH bulbs are now approximately the same size as the hps.

My goal is to eventually find a full-spectrum dimmable LED that is about an 600 - 1000 watt equivalent (wide range, right?). I'm looking to get the most bang for my buck here. Given the rapid rate of technological improvements in LED, I don't want to pay a lot of money on a higher-end unit as I'll most likely upgrade in a couple of years anyway when the tech improves.

My grow:
I'll be starting from seeds that will hopefully arrive within the next week. I purchased 5 each of Green Crack (god, I hate that name), Blue Dream and Mangolicious from AMS.

I'll start one of each outdoors and then take 2 cuttings of each and move the clones inside. My plan is to make one of each clone organic and the other dwc (or some other hydro method). Again, that's my "plan" for the cuttings, so we'll see. ScROG will be introduced here, as well. The original plants from which I took the cuttings will live their lives outdoors on the patio. I don't think I'll keep any mothers just yet.

As with any other hobby, I've noticed that there are a lot of egos floating around here and I'll do my best to keep mine and bay. A lot of this has to do with personal preference and there is rarely, if ever, a "best" method, soil, light, fertilizer etc. I'm not one to use superlatives lightly.

That being said, I welcome all constructive criticism. If you're a pretentious dick, I'll most likely add you to the "ignore" list. The search function is always our friend and I'll try to make the best of it before I ask too many questions that have already been asked 100+ times.

Please feel free to offer up any unsolicited advice or shoot me a pm and thanks for the forum.

Welcome, and good hunting!
I'm not crazy about the "crack" deal either.
Great strain though!
I've had decent results with ams, but got tired of everything being crossed with white widow.
And diy cobs kick serious keister
