Just shows there are many ways to skin a cat. It's all about what you are willing to spend up front.

Hey hows that spectrum for the CXM-22 Gen 4 3500k coming along? I want to add that to my info packet and post it in my build thread.
ill get to it soon, sorry, going out of town tomorrow morning you know how that goes

Thats a cool thing about cobs too, change chips in 3 or 4 years when they are much better.
which is why the standard 28mm chip is great. citizen, luminus, sharp, bridgelux, cree, etc all make chips in that size, who knows who will have the best chips in a few years. heatsinks and drivers are a durable investment

Hey Cobkits!

I'm learning how/trying to design a 600watt cob fixture.
I was looking at using 2700k gen6 Citizen CLU048 1818's (80 cri)
I'd like to use 4 and run them at 150Watts each. I'm having a little trouble selecting a mean well driver or drivers? I was looking at
HLG-600H-54B but it doesn't look to have enough total voltage available?
Also looking for advice on finding big enough heatsinks?

Edit: maybe a couple hlg-240h-c 2100ma constant current drivers for ~450 watts total?

id recommend 3000k or 3500k if you had to pick one spectrum
150W per chip is high youd need fan cooled heatsinks like the mechatronics
ill look up the voltage curve for those. yes its prob over 54V at 150W

I would go with 4 CLU058 1825 on a HLG600H-54B. I have one built that way and I think it pulls 620 at the wall. Actually it's the CLU059, same everything, but price and output.

ive got the 058s in stock in 3500k

they certainly can do 150W easily... but the active mechatronics required dont accept holders, you ahve to solder to chips, which inst for everybody. also there are no bolt-on options for reflectors

Hehe, yeah.
I had to do some finangling in order to purchase because I'm only working part time right now so I can't say I blame her. I love the idea of building my own cobs, I've got the timber 200watt light in my cab. In the future when we move I'll upgrade my 3x3 to a 5x5 and get after it, all in good time.
The quantum boards are ok but it's not a bad ass custom cob setup, ya know?
