hey cobby, any idea why a couple 1818's parallel to 185 48a dialed down to 2.8a and voltage 100%, only shows 36v DC on ammeter?

@CobKits whats the best configuration for 2x2 using 12-12s could I get by using two cobs?
If I use four with an hlg185 would I wire in series or parallel? And would it work without soldering if I use holders?
Sorry for the rookie questions

Goodro,

At what amperage are you planning on running the lights?

If you wanted to be just below the test current of 1080ma you can safely run these on the HLG-185H-C1050a/b.

You would be maxing out the HLG-185H-C1400a/b. You should be okay with this option as it seems Meanwell is conservative with their numbers on the datasheets, but I am not positive and I would get more opinions on this.

I would run 4 x 1212 in a 2x2 with driver HLG-240-C1400. (run in series) Voltage of driver is 89-179v (your voltage would be 144v) Gives you a little room to get creative with some red or blue or whatever colour monos to add to it the future)

Each COB would cover a foot squared, running at around 210-220w for the whole fixture which would really blow up that tent. (can alwayz dim down)

Ive given this config for the reason of future proofing (at least a little)

Im running the HLG-185H-48A with 4 x 1818's in a 2 x 2. Thatz at 220w (approx) max in parallel

Yip...get the holders...dont need your soldering iron. :)
120mm heatsinks will work.
Thatz what i would do...

damn that sucks about the wreck. hopefully his airbag punched the fuck out of him for you lol. anyways i thought i would post these up over here for you to see your parts in action :) thanks again!

the two in the pic with one on and one off are the citi 1212 arrays @ about 600 watts per 4x4. the one over the big girls is the cxm22 array at 800 watts covering about 5x5. they are loving life and temps are down. with just replacing the 1k hps with 800w of cobs my temps went down 8 degrees. i'll check the temps tomorrow and see what happened after i switched the 600 hps out with 600w of COBs.

oh and one more question...what height are you guys running these things at? i think i am about a 12-18" depending on plant height on the 600w array and about 20-24" on the 800w array.

Nice setupz yo

Im at about 28" under 320w (total) of cxm22...that is dimmed down aswell...and in veg...so not sure of actual wattage pulling at moment. Im still playing with heightz...i actually scorched my plantz a small amount for a day. But yeah...a bit of height gives you a bit of stretch in the plantz aswell...Some of mine were too squat.

Hey im looking at doing CLU048 1212 80cri x4 .. I was gonna order from timber. but im good with my hands, have access to all tools and materials for building a frame and mounting and like saving money lol. so much info on this thread im not even sure where to begin.. its for a 2.5x1.5 cab with 48" height, i think im making the right choice with the 1212.

any input is greatly appreciated.

Whats your budget, r u in US? Do you have any intention of expanding to a larger grow area in the future?

well i was gonna spend $299 (usd im assuming) on the timber kit.. i would like to spend less than that.. $300 cad would be good if possible. im in canada.

and no i dont plan on expanding it.. if anything maybe a 2x4 cab eventually and veg in this one.
the light i currently have produced some good results, but if cob's are supposed to produce better i would like to try it out.
