A judge of the Court of Quebec in Gatineau has made it clear that he had enough of the "obsolete and ridiculous laws" on the Canada cannabis.

While welcoming the commitment of the new Trudeau Government which intends to legalize consumption of marijuana, judge Pierre Chevalier has imposed a symbolic fine of one dollar to a man from the Outaouais arrested for possession of 30 marijuana plants. On the bench, he added in reflecting aloud. If half of Canadians already consumed the pot, there are strong bet that lawyers and judges have already done...

"A dollar fine" and thirty cents surcharge, launched Chevalier j., Thursday, folder Mario Larouche, a 46-year-old man suffering from several ailments following a road accident.

Mr. Larouche has tried without success to have a prescription to possess legally of cannabis, and lessen his pain.

The Crown sought a sentence of 90 days in custody, and the defense, a fine of $ 250. The magistrate has gone below the two recommendations.

A system "all crooked.

"If (the accused) had met with a doctor, he would have probably had his prescription, said first Chevalier j..". Mr would not be in Court today. "Mr is a system about crooked where it does not give access to people to a natural medicine, which dates back to many centuries, millennia. ''

Then, the magistrate ruled on Justin Trudeau's Government, which has pledged to legalize the controversial plant.

"And I think the company will déniaiser on this side there, at least on the side of politicians, he said. There is one who is responsible for currently and that will probably not afraid to go in this direction. It stagnated in Canada on this side, because politically, the people probably wasn't ready to laws evolve at this level here. Irresponsible politicians have simply let things languish because it was to make them lose votes."

Then, came the turn of the judiciary.

"We are in a society where they accused people of possession and use of marijuana while more than half of the population has already consumed. These are laws that are outdated and ridiculous. When you are in the presence of laws where it would take more than half of the population have a criminal record to the Canada... And probably most of the Solicitors for the Crown and the defence, and perhaps judges, but I do not abrogate it. So I think it is time that we look much more lenient way things going."

Cannabis is still considered illegal in the Canada, except for those who have a doctor's authorization.

Exactly what I said was going to start happening. The judges will have a problem imposing sentences for what most do not consider a crime and an act the government has pledged to legalize. This is a medical case that involves growing and that bodes very well for us.IMO I expect we'll see a bunch of similar rulings and then a sharp reduction in police charges and prosecution. Having it come from Quebec and not BC is a bonus as well, as it shows (screams) it is a national issue and not a regional one. Made my day! :bigjoint:

Combined with the Ontario judge throwing out the mandatory minimums it makes the Hamilton police comments even more puzzling.
Judges don't want to waste court time.
Politicians are ok with it as long as their friends are making money and generating tax revenue.
But the cops seem to still be on the make work program.
No kick backs for them yet perhaps?

One of the documentaries on Netflix had a police chief in the states that admitted that mj was 80% of his forces workload and if mj became legal he was afraid they would have to lay off half the workforce or start issuing jay walking tickets lol
Might be some of the dilemma
Idk either

Exactly...they should be concentrating on 'barbaric cultural practices' or something. Oh wait, those orders were rescinded.
It's going to be a learning exercise for everyone. Every cop currently policing in Canada has been told pot is bad as part of their training. It's been ingrained in them for generations. It will take time to erase the stigma, but they can be taught. Even following legalization there will be confusion with the police.
