interesting thought... "clone imitations"

while i had asked you guys if turning my dirt plants into hydro plants was a good idea, i ran into a few different answers and one of the most common answer where "it has too much roots, it should have been a clone cutting"

SO, then i get this idea...

my plants are all from seed, yet after almost 3 months old they are still only 4-5 inches tall. and i wondered to myself, "what if i just cut off all the roots and the bottom of the stem (at a 45 degree angle), then put it through one of many rooting methods AS IF it where a clone???"

i would then have my exclusive problem dealt with and my legit plants can actually pass as cuttings and therefore be able to fit into my hydroponic system... right?

it ALSO serves me a second way now that i think of it, since i cut the roots off in the first place, i wouldnt have to rinse any dirt off of them bongsmilie

It might work. But I'm going to ask, "Why do you want to clone these other than as an experiment or for practice?" I think that cutting off their roots would stress them severely.

Not to be mean, but if your plants are 3 months old and only 4-5 inches tall, why would you want to keep those genetics going. There is definitely something wrong with either their genetics or your grow plan and care.

Do you know if they are even female? If they were, the stress could hermie them. Why not start over with good genetics and review your grow plan and supplies?

Good luck with whichever way you choose.

BTW - The soil can be gently rinsed off their roots and put into a hydro system. Just be gentle with the roots.

You'd be better off taking some small cuttings and trying to clone them. WTF is wrong with them? 3 Months and only 4-5"? Mine are 10 days old and 4" tall

their progress is 100% on my own ass, i have them under only 3 CFLs and before that i had them under 2 so its obvious why they suck.

they are all female and not at all hermies thank god. that i am sure of. but as soon as i get my hydro system up my grow room will undergo several upgrades including 10-12 new 40w CFL's 6500k. and a better fan.
