Interesting setup, a little bit of help needed.

Alright, I am growing in an old house that's basically had the shit beaten out of it. It was a family friends old house and that was like 40 years ago? Since then it's just been sitting there and my newfound hobby suggests maybe a grow area.

Now, my options vary from room to room, I could have it in a cold wet dark basement that probably has more insects than anywhere else. I could put it on the middle floor but that might not be good in case of vandalism ( has been known to happen ) or I could put it on the top floor.

I know that window growing isn't the best but my friend told me that he just made solar panel reflector type things with tinfoil and some ply wood and stuck them up on the walls and it made a good enough light source for the plants. Would that even work?

I took pictures of the house and some of the rooms that I'll post if you want me too but until then I'm too lazy to grab my camera.

Anyways I'm basically new to growing except for the fact my family farms and I have basic knowledge about that sort of thing. Not much about nutrients for pot though haha.

I don't know what strain I'm going to grow yet, I was thinking something really good and worth growing because I'm going poor buying dank bud.

Is kush possible to grow in this kind of place? Or any plant for that matter? Any help is needed and wanted.

Well... first off, get ready to be "going poor" for gardening equipment.

Second, some pics will generate some actual opinions about each room. Having said that however, nix the bug room (cause of bugs)... you know fuck it. Use the top floor, it has better security, you can get rid of smell better, ventilation won't be an issue... just avoid having a blow out if you are using hydroponics.

You're buddy is sorta right, you can grow with light from the sun and some well placed mylar... you will have to bare with me though, I'm an indoor guy and I don't trust the sun ("stay up, stay down, just pick a side! We're at war!"). Thus, I would use your most secure, well ventilated room with a couple HPS lights to turn your crap-shack into a cannastle... cannabis castle... yeah, that's lame... how about "pot factory".... nah....

Moving on, for your other minor questions, I think you already know the answers or you will shortly.

Also, if I can offer advice about picking your strain. Find your favourite type of weed and grow it. You can deal with the stains foibles later (smell, height, krunkness).

Well I'd try the strains I plan to grow but my town is basically shwagg or you get oregano. That's why I'm looking at growing so I don't have to put up with that crap all the time.

Another thing about this house is that there is no electricity =( so I can't grow with lights or anything that's why I was wondering about the whole tinfoil and frame idea haha.

I was going to grow something easy for beginners like northern lights or something like that. But I was reading up on other strains and I'd like to experiment with Ak-47 or Trainwreck. I'm not sure

Maybe I will just scrap the guerilla grow and figure out a stealth way for my house.
