I am in desperate need of an idea for running my intake & exhaust threw a window in my backyard. I have tried to build a wooden box that would sit inside the window frame, it was harder then I thought. I basically want something with dual holes (6 inch circles to be exact) that sits in the window frame & doesn't let air/bugs/water/ect into my house. I've been doing my research online for something, I found a few things that I am considering buying but I wanted to check with you guys before I make the purchase. I am sure that I'm not the only one on this site that runs vents threw there windows, how do you guys seal the window shut?

Here is a list of a couple things that I am considering buying if there isn't a better option recommended, if any of you have used these please review the product for me because the companies don't give the best description. My window is approx. 35 inches wide, i need something to fit snug into the window.

Adjustable Window Plate White, 4"

 • Lambro Model # 240T
 • WINDOW PLATES - LOUVERED - ADJUSTABLE
 • Size 4" Louver
 • Height 10"
 • Width Adjustable 22"-32"
This thing is ideal to what I need minus the intake hole, its only downfall is it only adjust to 32 inches, I need 35 inches.

APWKITDH - EdgeStar Dual Hole Window Kit for AP14000

The EdgeStar dual hole window kit is really just about exactly what I need but the company barely gives a description of the product, I know that it will fit my window but I'm a little worried about buying it without knowing anything about it. Has anyone used this window kit before, if so how durable is it. Also I am worried about the security of my home, can this thing be easily pushed in? Also if anyone has this window kit can you possibly show me a picture of what it actually looks like?

I also was considering taking my window pane out of the frame and replacing it with plexiglass & cut an intake hole on the left side of window & a exhaust hole on the right side of the window. I would also screw a dryer vent thing threw the plexiglass onto a piece of wood on other side of window, here is a tutorial on how to do this.

...I also needed a way to exhaust tent air out my room so i built a wooden frame made from 1"by 3" boards, a sheet of 1/8" 3ply craft sheet of wood, a 6" flange and some 1/4" weather stripping.
My window frame is 47" by 46" so i made the frame about 1/4" smaller on all sides to offset the 1/4" weather striping i bought to go around the sides of the frame when finished..I glued the frame togeather holding it with nails with nails. then glued the sheet to the frame then nailing it into the frame.....Now i have the box built with the concave side being the side facing the inside of the window and the back side of the frame with the sheet will be facing the inside of the room.
Then i cut a square hole into the backside of the 3ply sheet perfectly fit my 6" duct flange and glued/screwed that inplace....then i painted it and and put the weather stripping around the outside of the frame. The weather stripping is to create a seal between the wooden box frame and the inside of the window frame..with out it there would be wood frame on wooden window fram......
You must account for the thickness of your weather stripping before making your frame or it wont work right. You gotta have just enought room to get the box frame in the window frame but at at same time its gotta be tight enough to create a seal agaisnt air and light... so its very important to make sure you have all you measurements right before you make the frame.......this box will simply sit snug inside the window frame no nails or glue or anyting and when you want to take it out just simply pull it out......Now on the inside you cant have people seeing this wooden box frame so i have takin out the regular blinds and put in asian type wooden blinds that allows air to flow out freely but masks whats behind it Plus these blinds are very THIN light and i can mount right up agaisnt the window and i can get them at walmart too. Anyways hope that helped some........I can take a pic of it if you cant picture what im discribing let me know...

ya I got this idea from someone elses box i saw on youtube.......Its pretty simple really the hardest part was measuring it correctly so it would fit into the window frame but not be to big or small other than that it was pretty easy.......i dont have pics of it but ill take same and post it....

still didnt take those pics LOL .......its pretty simple really what dont you get about it?

I think, just like me and others, we like to see pics to compare and get ideas from what others are doing. For example, you saw tons of pictures before you started this that has helped you build a better grow.

I hate doing the picture stuff but I do it to help others, and maybe others can help me.

I highly recommend watching this video:
Step by Step Grow Room setup to harvest

It explains exactly how to work with a room that has a window - from covering to ventilation.
Hope that helps you out!
