Am wondering about cooling my 400watt hps light, I am setting up a grow room in a small closet with a 400watt hps light, do you think I'll need an inline 6' fan in a duct to cool the light? I'll be using a stealth hydro set up with 6 4' pots. Thanks guys...ol hippy

ya you will need some kinda of way for air getting in and out!!

I have seen some pretty innovative ways for handling this problem !

the temps will be too hot for you to handle buddy!!!

ya BTW good system! (I have a cpl bubblesystems that i built lying around)

u gunna use HPS through entire grow?.. and are u going to use the nuts that came with ur system?

Im trying to get that going now, my 400watt hps should be here any day as well as the stealth hydro sys. So I'm trying to be ready to go ! I was thinking about a 6" flex vent running from the light housing up to the attic with an inline fan. Thats where I'm at now trying to find a fan that I ca hook up without too much bull shit, all fans I find don't have any plugs so I'm wondering if I can just add my own plub and just plug it into a wall plug. Now I'm worried about too much shit pluged into the one outlet in the closet , I may have to run another plug through the attic !!! This is worse than working !!! Thanks for the reply and any info Skunkman !!

NP man!!

ya u MIGHT wanna check home depot or lowes .. hell i have been to sme wal-marts where i have seen duct lines with fans that would fit lol

Oh ya man i remember waiting for my materials to get to me as well!! .. its the wait the killed me lol ... you'll have no problem setting it up, you seem like a pretty smart fella !

the stealth hydrosystem comes with nuts in prepacked ammounts i do believe , and have heard many great things(i built my systems, therefore having to buy my own nuts and measuring it out and such)

do you have a PH tester or anything like that? .. idk .. im just tinking of things that u migh need later done thr road(PH should be check throughout grow, im sure u kno that tho hhehe :-D)

welp any questions or w/e just ask .. ill be happy to help if i can not.. if i can npot help somone .. odds are someone will be able to help ;)

I'd get a 6" to exaust and a 4" as an intake, but you don't have to as long as the cfm rating is considerably higher on the exaust. I've had issues finding them at lowes locally but I think it's just this area. You can go on the lowes website and find them or just get them from HTG which is probably cheaper. Those inline duct fans are great for a small place like yours, but they're hard to find it seems like. I don't think they're used very often or something.

I found a like here to HTG Supply, and ordered a 4" fan that will do the trick it was half the price and was allready wired with a plug so now I just need the flex venting ,I'm on my way to Home depot!! If everything works out I'll be smokin home grown again in a few months !!Thanks guys....ol hippy

If you got that fan it is not going to be strong enough as an exhaust. I use that fan as my intake with a 306 CFM inline fan and the temps are still a bitch to control without the intake being attached to an air conditioner

hey ol hippy my nutes are coming today made my own b/p will be using 400 mh/hps & same nutes as you yeah at first this shit seems like work that all fades out as your first buds appear & then it turns peaceful & enjoyable [like fishing] like you i had obstacles a lot of the time theres lo-tech solutions to a lot of these problems keep us posted

Tom420,Thanks, yep that's the one only I'm really using it hooked up to my lamps vent tube hoping it will keep the light cooler!? I've also got a recirculating fan and opened up a vent in the floor for more air flow. Thanks again for input I'll keep on eye on the fan and see if I need a bigger (6") one ..ol hippy

I have my 306 CFM inline fan connected to my 400 watt HPS in a 6 inch cool tube. You WILL need a stronger fan unless the temps outside your box is about 50°F
