Inline Exhaust

This may be a newbies question, but I've never had to worry about odors before. The tent I ordered has the inlet/outlets, and have an inline fan coming with it. Plan was to exhaust through unused clothes dryer vent that leads to outside. Could I just hook one of the inline carbon filters up inside the tent, having the fan pull it out and through to the outside. Or does it need to re-circulate over and over? Thanks.

Pull the air through the filter and out to where ever. What size is your dryer ducting? Generally they aren't very big.

Duct is 4". I'm only going to run 2' 4 bulb T-5 fixture with 2-3 plants max to start. In 30 days, changing that light out for 200watt CFL during flower. Had good results in past with CFL and adding LED side lighting.

A 4" should be big enough but get a decent 4" inline fan to move enough air. Sucking thru a filter slows down air movement. A cheapo duct booster fan won't move hardly any air so don't go there. If you have to go any distance I'd get solid plastic pipe for a long run as the air moves a lot easier thru it. Some drainage pipe is really cheap too. Even the galvanized metal pipe would work OK.

All I had for years was a 4" outlet and rigged up fan I scrounged out of a dead microwave. 5" blades do had a 4 - 5 adapter the blades barely fit in. Could run a 1000W or 3 400W HID lights and it managed to keep temps down enough except for summertime. Finally put in a 6" exhaust and may use a 4" line for exhausting a portable AC unit I hope to get soon so I can run my room sealed with CO2 and better humidity control. Very dry here all winter and using a humidifier doesn't work well.
