With the exception of the metal halide plasma unit in the second link these are the most efficient artificial light sources in terms of PAR

And they are...gasp...HID

check and mate...still laughing?

Now with this I bid you all adieu...when you have facts to prove your claims I'll return...I backed up all of mine...especially that I grow potent cannabis...indoors...none of you have proven a thing except ignorance

The top link says you need SIX units, to get 1500umoles...

"This means a chamber operating two All-Bright will provide average intensity of approximately 532 µmol/m2/s at a distance of 20” (50cm), and a chamber operating six would deliver approximately 1,595 µmol/m2/s."

My SINGLE AF-240 439W puts out 1700umoles @ 12".

Again, you are an idiot.

The second link the 1000W light puts out 2000umloes, and the 600W light puts out 1100umoles.

More power usage than LED, and less usable light....

Once again, you are an idiot.

The newest, greatest, best Area 51 lights are 145W and put down over 1065umoles. That's over 7.3umoles/watt - beat that efficiency.

I run cmh dumbass

It seems like this thread has taken a decidedly un-iGROW direction. Well it's all good and I'm learning alot.

I'm no lighting expert so forgive me if these might be stupid or too basic a questions.

Don't the halides have spectrum shift issues that even in a CMH-HPS (HPS-Retro White) would be evident?

Also I look at both of these charts and it would seem based on the graphs (which have the appearances of being normalized between both charts relative intensities), that the CMH-HPS outperforms the pure HPS hugely even in the red areas. How is that possible when one would expect sodium under high pressure to exhibit the same wavelength/intensities regardless if it were mated with a halide?

If you're point is that the CMH-HPS is a better broad spectrum I can appreciate that. But the comparison of the two charts leads me to question how just adding that much more white light gives us greater intensities in red and just how stable the halides are as the lamp ages.

the cmh are very color/spectrum stable as it not only is a different arc tube but also the ceramic arc tubes allows much greater leeway in the composition of those halides to a more stable and different spectral illuminance

cmh does indeed produce more red than hps as seen in the chart...hps is mostly yellow and orange with little to no blue...but cmh has very much blue which is why it burns white for as you can see the spectrum is very similar to actual sunlight other than its spikiness...it is an ill conceived notion that hps produce alot of red...it produces alot of light energy but the spectrum is narrow...that is just a comparison of hps's spectrum to cmh's spectrum...they are not mated in anyway just one graph next to the other

hope this helps clarify your understanding

Thank you for the reply Kite.

So if I understand you correctly the lamp shown in the left graph which you refer to as a CMH and the mfg refers to as an HPS-Retro White, uses no sodium to emit the red wavelengths they're showing?

I guess I was too late to ask you not to beat yourself over the head huh? Your anger is "proving more than anyone can say". You can get "high as a kite" and be as angry as a bull at text over the internet... Silly.

I'm flattered you took the time to learn about me, read my posts, etc. but, you need to grow some thicker skin kiddo. Your personal shots at me are humorous attempts to disguise your own RL insecurity.

Like I said, there is more than one factor to discuss and I simply don't want to discuss it with you.

I fear that will be my answer every time I present you with a piece of information that proves anything against you. Thus, you're more a waste of time than your prepubescent humor.

Take care.

Making up what? The information I copy and pasted from the links you provided? Fucking moron.

Maybe you should actually read the links you post, BEFORE posting them so you don't make yourself look even stupider.

Have fun with your antiquated technology and shitty bud... Snicklefritz...

so whats the best recommended LED grow light for under $200? only planning on two plants at a time so doesnt need to be massive. just powerful enough to give nice buds

what exact model would you recommend for $300?
there seems to be allot of ebay but im hesitant about them all as im not sure if they are actually decent or just knock offs

http://www.growlightleds.com/90w-ufo-led-grow-light/
This has 90x1w bulbs, or would it be better to get a 2/3w LED system?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/120-WATT-LED-GROW-LIGHT-INDOOR-HYDROPONIC-OR-SOIL-GROWING-G8-LED-/280857273309?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item416465e3dd&_uhb=1#ht_3116wt_1164

or this look rather interesting as well, they also have a cool little youtube demonstation video

I`d run like 1 plant under a 90 or 120w led panel

A mate uses a 120w led panel all 1 w leds to keep 2 large mums alive it does a good job but it would be far to weak to flower anything more then 1 or 2 small autos.

I wouldn't do those ebay lights. I almost bought one, but am glad I got outbid. I've done some asking around and a couple of people that have bought the ebay lights say they paid way more than they were worth. You can probably find some name brand ones used though. I saw an A51 I was interested in, but it wasn't much cheaper than buying from the manufacturer, especially when you factor in shipping. That's my two cents and it's worth about that much as well.

Before you spend ANY money on LED take a look at what iGROW has done with their lights by offering a brilliant solution to expand the flowering area. For just $55.00 you can add the wings and it takes the light from just 27" wide to a whopping 41" wide! For little expense you've nearly doubled the area of coverage and increased intensity! Sorry no LED is going to be able to do that!

First off, how does it increase intensity? It's not focusing the light more, it's spreading the light out more. Secondly, 41" isn't very large, the AF-600 and AF-240 both cover a larger area than that. Third, the Area 51 lights produce more PAR than iGROW lights. Fourth, they cost less. Fifth, they have a lifetime warranty and provide free shipping when you place an order.

The AF-600 will cover a max area of 54"x54" that's over 20ft/sq...
