Indoor start Outdoor finish

Hey all,

I have a few simple questions that I would love for a more experienced grower to help me with. I have put a lot of thought and time into my plan for the summer. I would like to begin growing indoors and end outdoors. I have been reading about attic growing and have to agree that temperatures during the summer are probably going to cause problems because I live in the New England area (USA) and we have hot summers 90 degrees or higher on some days. I know if there isn't antiquate means to keep the temperature somewhat regulated you can have problems. I already have plenty CFLs up there and what I would like to do and wanted to check with everyone is to basically begin the growing process up there and move them outside once they get going. I would move them outdoors maybe a few weeks in giving them 12-14 hrs of light throughout? as if they were outside during this whole time. The reason I wanted to begin them indoors is to guarantee a healthy and safe start. I would like to know if you think that keeping them in the attic for only a few weeks would be ok for their health? I can certainly have several fans and there is a vent leading outside. At nighttime the attic does cool off considerably and it is being extra insulated as we speak. Also I would like to take recommendations on how long to wait before transplanting them outdoors? The biggest issue is a hight one. There is probably only a few feet of vertical space so that is another reason for my decision to move outdoors, not to mention that I have a great site for them too.

Thanks for taking the time to read all of my ramblings and questions I'd really appreciate some help!

I was also thinking while they are in the attic and I could control the light period do you think it would be better for the vegging period to give them 18/6 or 24 hrs while they are up there? or would it screw everything up giving them that much for a few weeks and then moving them outdoors where they would get 12/12? I read a lot about how 12/12 will result in small plants if that is all that is given right off the bat, but isn't that the case if you grow outdoors from the start where thats what you get from mother nature anyway? I know I have seen some large plants grow outdoors were they first started inside I wonder? Also if 12/12 supposedly skips the vegging period does that mean there is not vegging period when growing outdoors from the start?

Thanks again haha

u should give them 18/6
but i dont think the fact that they would change from 24/0 to 12/12 is a problem
