Popping in for a quick update. Be sure to check out my grow journal. My other bed is getting ready to go through harvest and I just dropped a few cool shots of the finishing off of those.
Now as for our new Hugel Bed we are moving right along. I made some LST clips from some insulated wire. They work well. Did a little lst on these to spread them out a bit more. Im gonna say another week maybe 2 and were going to be flipping to bloom. I would also like to note, that I have foiler feed these plants aloe with the lights on once per week. The bed has gotten watered 1 time with 1.5 gallons homemade aloe water followed by 5 gallons from the sprayers. They shouldn't need water for another week or so. Well do a daily water of half gallon to keep the mulch and top layer at a good moisture level.

Life has been hectic guys. Sorry for the delay on this. Harvest happened the other day. I got them haging and drying. They look good. Little leafy for my taste. But good final run for the summer. As soon as its all dried and wieghed ill be back to post those numbers and some final bud pics.
How do you like your X5? Would you say it was worth the money? Thinking about getting one already have a growers choice720 but these just seem so much more efficient.

Nice grow, amazing work.that bed looks awesome.
So you think it will work better just using clones in the bed instead of bigger plants?
So the grassroots beds work really good? How long you figure the bed will last?
You got yours in a 5x5 tent?
I have a 5x5 and was thinking about getting the 4x4 bed. It fits in there good? I need to get in my room to work in there so I don't stink up the house, is there room in there after its set up? I'm not very big so I don't need much room I usually just move the two front pots and cram them over to the sides and hop on in and close the door again...lol

Very nice work, should definitely be proud. Very textbook looking grow.

Using multiple clones will always be best, if plant counts will let you get away with it of course. 4x4 space, people typically do 4 big plants due to plant count limits. Putting 16 smaller plants in that same space will provide both better yields, and shorter veg time.

Consider how long it takes to veg 4 plants to fill a 4x4 space as opposed to 16, you'll save up to a full month in time not having to veg which results in an extra harvest per year! Say it normally takes 4 months from seed to harvest, training and all. 3 harvest in a year. Start with 6-12 inch clones instead? Eliminate nearly 1 month from your 3 cycles and that adds up to 3 months time you saved over a year!

Not only does this give growers an extra harvest, but yields will also be larger. Rather than training plants to let lower branches hit the canopy, the entire canopy is purely top nugs.

So, now you're not only getting an extra harvest out of the deal, but your yields are also fatter to boot.

Training plants and filling screens is definitely a fun experience. However, back in the days when growing was completely illegal no one grew like that. Illegal whether its 1 plant or hundred, so fuck plant count then lol. People would legit just take clones and flower them immediately, maybe let them veg for a week or two max. Bigger yields, big buds with better bag appeal, and in less time. :D

Was thinking if I can get my acmpr I could just have a shit ton of mothers and just flower out like 16 clones at a time of whatever strains I feel like at that point in time.
That would be awesome

Clones are always best as it keeps things uniform. Im going to do a full seed run in my next go around and we'll see how that goes.
The grassroot beds are amazing. Wouldnt use anything else. It should last a years.
Yes a 5x5. Could have done a 3x3 bed and had more move around space inside.

Thanks

Yeah nothing really surprising for experienced growers in organics. I in a happy place with growing now. I think 9 plants per bed is going to be a good spot for me. only 2 weeks veg from a good solid clone.

Yeah I did train one bed for fun scrog style. Personally I dont want to spend that much time in my garden.

Would be a good way to Pheno hunt as well.

What if I said we could do 16 clones in this bed. 4 strains. top each plant for 4 tops, once there flip em and go? Trim all side branching off. More to come. This bed has been sitting for awhile. just staying moist and growing clover. Got a good mulch layer going. Winter is coming and We can drop in some clones right into the bed and go. Need to change out the sprayers for drip line. Going to pop beans tonight. Cultivars will be Kali 47, White Strawberry, Painkiller XL, and Pineapple Express. Life isnt as hectic now so should have more time to document the grow.

More to come.

Going to have to put a pin in this for a bit. We are going to be going back into the building phase. First thing that is happening next weekend is both beds will be put onto wheeled platforms. Then they will be put in the corner while i build a 11x10 Room. Just got to get the room set up. Since I'm building it myself, I am also going to put in 4 inchs of insulation, AC and coolbot system so I can cool the room down to 32 degrees.

Thought I would share as its been about 8 months since I started this bed and it will be getting dug up and emptied. I am curious what the wood is looking like in there. I will be sure to show pictures of the bed as its emptied.

I will be going into more detail in my grow journal of the room build ect. Excited to get out the tents.

Congratulations. Sounds like you got a lot on your plate, but to be honest, it's sounding like i wouldn't mind having it on mine. Lol

I'm curious to see how the wood is doing as well. It kinda sucks you have to stop the decomp process but I'm guessing it's worth it.

Man I really need to step up my game. Lol

Its an evolution. I'm actually in a place where I can build it. Neighbor down the street took apart his deck and i was able to get some pressure treated wood. I have 9 sheets of 3/4 4x8 sheets of plywood left over from when I got the roof redone. I have a couple of gallons of white paint sitting around. So really its just the A/C unit, cool bot, insulation, wheels for the platforms, insulted door and hardware. I might spend 1200 bucks. But Im patient. I'll save and buy the parts as i can. I just got wheels and liner for the platforms. Insulated door is next. That I may find free.

That's great man. Is it going to be outdoor, like a shed, or are you building it indoor, like a room in a basement?
