indoor growing in cold winter months

I live in central Canada and I am not shure of the best way to controll indoor temps when pulling cold intake air through the window.

I always thought that exchanging air inside a tent with frsh outdoor air every hour was very important for indoor growing but this would make my room drop to below acceptable temps regularly.

I could excange my tent air with indoor room air but is that going to be acquit for indoor plants?

my room right now is running on a thermostat which kicks on when the the temps rise to above 28 degrees. this will trigger the intake fan from a outside window box and air cooled lights from same window box. It also will trigger the exhaust fan to run as well. The fans only run for a few minutes before the temps drop back down to 25. When it is very cold outside this might only happen a few times during the day.

Anybody else grow in cold environments? thanks for any input
 
I've grown in Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, where outside temperatures dip as low as -45 Fahrenheit.

Pulling air directly in from outside when temperatures are low can give you some massive temperature swings.

Here is my solution: (I use it year round)

Having an air cooled light helps immensely, under many circumstances. I draw in fresh outside air to cool my light, then exhaust it back outside, with only minor odor control added for safety.

Then I have an intake and exhaust fan on a thermostat that draw air from an adjoining room indoors, then pass through a carbon scrubber before exhausting outdoors. When my air conditioner in the house runs in the summer, I draw this air in directly from outdoors instead.

Additionally, I have a small 'high temperature' fan that kicks in and draws air from outside directly into the room, if the other fans are not sufficient for cooling.

I have never had a problem with room temperatures, humidity, or odor.
