Indoor grow tent ventilation

I have a 48x32x60 in grow tent in my walkin bedroom closet with a 400 watt HPS air cooled with a 440 cfm fan that exhausts through a carbon scrubber.

Since my intake and outtakes are both in the closet, heat has become an issue. I have done a lot of studying on grow safety and it seems exhausting into the attick or out of a window might be detectable to police imaging. The Barry Cooper website (supposedly a highly respected person in the field) recommended exhausting underneath your house . Thus, I was thinking about cutting a 6 in hole through the carpet and floor and exhaust under the house.

Question- has anyone done this before? Exhaust through floor under house? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Use a hole saw and save the plug you cut out. I vent under my house, actually out my dryer duct.

Don't tell the landlord but I cut a 6in hole to the outside and just vent right thru the wall but in my area smell isn't an issue. A floor hole might be harder to fix.
Are you running a duct silencer? they are easy to make and work well to keep the sound of your venting down. Not sure I helped any but its the thought that counts right? Merry Christmas!

Snoop dog wouldn't run a 400 watt hps. Into the attic or the window is fine. no one will know unless it smells. No cop gives a shit about someone's personal grow that isn't affecting anybody.

I cut a hole in my ceiling with an old knife.

Dude run it to the attic. The ceiling is easier to cut/repair generally, and heat rises by nature.
I've read people say that might cause mold, etc? That didn't sound right to me because the attic is much hotter normally then even the Tent

I had the same issue till I added a door to the closet and had a cold air feed at the bottom of the door sucking in and the hot air exhaust at the top I use 2 inline fans one for the filter and one for the light then join both exhausts together and out! All I did was put a shelf up top above the light and screwed the fans down with a sponge pad between the base of the fan and the wood to reduce the noise are you using a tube or a hood?

Oh and to keep the cool air coming in I close the bedroom door open up the window and turn the central heating off in that room so the only heat is what's being exhausted (plus I like sleeping in a cold bedroom!!)

Dude dont go cutting wires and plaster.

Use a hole that accesses the attic and go from there, especially with a rental.

I got some scrap plaster for my man hole, measured it up and cut away. And now its a swap and go job when i have an inspection. Nothing damaged, nothing suss :blsmoke:

Hey fellas -

In my closet where my grow tent is, there is an overhead light about 6 inches in diameter. Do you think that light could be removed easily and used as an exhaust hole to the attic? This would save me from having to cut my own hole. Also, is there a way to make the vent in the attic look inconspicuous in the event someone goes into the attic ? Any electricians out there? Or thoughts from experience ?
If you

I just wing my exhaust out the window well, I have a terrific design for the ultimate mini show if I really wanted to grease it up.

Shit, I own my house and wouldn't cut a hole in my ceiling, lol. A lot of people do though.

I just exhaust my tent out into the room
Doesn't your house smell a little bit even with carbon?(I assume you're running carbon)
