Indica or Sativa

Hey all to read this...I'm growing for my first time and i got some good seeds off my girlfriends's Dad's outdoor plants...No I didn't thief them he gave me a load of them. Anyways to the point...the strain is Purple Durban...Can anyone tell me what this is...is it Indica Or sativa...and what is the difference between those too?

I know Durban Poison is a nice Sativa......so i would guess sativa
