Increasing Resin Production

I myself am growing an SSH clone, and always wonder what increases resin production.
I spoke to my friend who grows at a larger scale, and apparently this is quite a popular method to increase resin production before harvest.

If you are growing an indoor crop and want the most trichomes (resin), leave your plant in the dark the last 2 or 3 days before you pull them up. this is when you should flush the plant of nutrients.

Something like that. Flush way before that and i think its 1 day in the dark.

there are alot of tricks like this that most people on here argue about constantly.
some people say to leave your plants in a 24 hour dark period before switching to 12/12
others say to do it the very last day before harvest because it lets the plant know its
at the end of its cycle and allow the plant to make a last final push. as for flushing its recommended to flush for the last week of your harvest.

Any other experienced growers with mad bud techniques?!?!?
