In the basement

So just recently bought a house and moving to a basement to grow. My first question is ive been told smell will go up stairs the room is about 15x15 which carbon filter would be best to use? Also the walls are concrete i do have a basement window though so what is best way to exhaust out of the house. I know threw the window but how would i go about that. Ive always been in a extra bedroom so i used the portable ac window fitting. Last thing all walls are white would you wrap them in panda paper?

If you get a good carbon filter that's rated for your fan's cfm, and it's hooked up properly with no leaks you shouldn't have to worry about smell too much. 15x15 I would go with two 8" inline fans/filters. If there's a dryer in the basement you could tap into that vent with a splitter. Or any other exposed ducting you can tap into down there? Rigging up exhaust through the window seems like a pain in the arse. And forget the panda, wrap those walls in mylar!

I was thinking a phresh or can filter but I thought about dryer duct as its right above room i just dont know if i should move that much air threw a 4 inch exhuast.

On second thought, maybe spring for a couple 10" fans/filters. Those cloudline T10's are really nice. Idk if the 8" would be sufficient.

Yeah, you'd just be wasting all that fan power trying to go into a 4" duct. I'd just replace the window with a piece of wood, cut a hole in it and put one of those exit valve thingies on the outside so it looked like a dryer vent.

Thats not a bad idea at all i could pop that window right out

For a small grow area you can get away without venting the exhaust outside. When the plants are fully mature in the weeks before they are ready to pull even carbon filtration can be overpowered by the smell of dank. Panda film is pretty good stuff; more reflective than paint. I lined my whole grow room with it. It’s an option but not a requirement.
To prevent/reduce odors from coming up through the floor consider running silicone into every crack you can find, I did this in my basement grow under the old hardwood shiplap flooring which considerably reduced the amount of dank smells coming up through the upper floor.

Probably pull air from a separate room no co2 also no ac im just running a 5x10 flood and drain table in the open room with a small veg tent..lighting is 2 hlg 650rs. Veg will be a hlg light just not sure which one yet.

I would try to have an intake coming from outside so that you don’t have to worry about depleted CO2 levels. Put a piece of wood where the window is and cut holes for intake & exhaust. Put a Dust Shroom Filter on the intake.

The most ideal method would be to run an AC/CO2 and just have an in-line fan connected to a filter scrubbing air in the room.

Better yields and more control over environment/odor.

Yea but I don't want to run an ac nor should I have to its cool down there and with co2 i cant afford a co2 generator and dont want to deal with the bottles again.

Just run an intake & exhaust to the window then. Connect them both to a thermostat. Dust shroom filter on intake/carbon filter on exhaust. If you are really concerned about smell then have another fan filter just scrubbing the air in the room.

You will still most likely need a Dehumidifier/Humidifier.

I got the dehumidifier already and I have the intake and exhuast already. Ill do the window thing. Anyone got good recommendations on brand filter

You don’t really don’t need either. A basement is the perfect place to grow imo. I grow big ass buds without co2 tanks. I run a dehumidifier 24/7 and use the water collected in it for my plants. There is a worm bin in the basement so a meager amount of co2 wafts off of it and passively benefits the plants. Self sustaining & cost effective...well other than the power bill.

Ended up buying the can 50 from the grow store today. Going to get the wood this weekend for the window and silicone for the ceilings and we should be up and running. Got some white runtz clones and some east side og from the leaf doc vegging under some t5s now
