In flower, fan leaves yellowing on some, not on others- need advise

Hi.

3 out of 18 plants have rapidly yellowing fan leaves. The rest look fine. Not super green but healthy. They are at 33 days flower. I'm going to 70 days or so. i realize that fan leaves start to yellow in flower but this is way too early for so many leaves to be all yellow.

I'm using AN sensi bloom and big bud and used their grow 2 part during veg. I also use a tsp of molasses per gallon every 2 or 3 waterings. I feed them according to the AN calculator. Should i feed them a strong dose of the AN grow nutes or just up their sensi bloom next feeding or do something else? I'm in soil, a mix of black gold and fox farm, perlite and some bat quano. Water with and without nutes is always at 6.4 to 6.6. when i feed them.

assume that it's a nitrogen deficiency. what is the best way to increase the N for the 3 plants. Use the grow formula (which i'm assuming has more N than the bloom ferts) or increase the amount of bloom ferts next feeding to give them a shot of N.

That's about it. I'd appreciate any input! :wall:

THis pic was taken a few days ago. I need to take a new pic when they wake up. It's the plants in the back. You can see the beginnings of the leaves yellowing and turning very light green. There are a lot more yellow leaves now. Again, the rest of the plants are ok. They are clones from two different genetics.

When I have had problems that look similar, it was due to overfeeding. Myself, i would water them with 6.5 ph water and check the runoff for ph and ppm and then flush to correct the runoff to closer to 6.5. I would do that to all of you plants because I bet if some are showing signs, the rest are close to showing signs. I had a similar looking problem once after adding PK13-14, and found my runoff was 5.0ph so i flushed with 7.5 ph tapwater and brought the runoff up to 6.0 and things got better after that but i think it hurt my yield pretty bad

Also, it does seem like i have noticed a trend on here that people posting problems have no idea of either/both what the ppm and ph of what they feed their plants.

I've never checked run off before. I'll check it in future. I appreaciate the input.

I guess my real question is; assume that it's a nitrogen deficiency. what is the best way to increase the N for the 3 plants. Use the grow formula (which i'm assuming has more N than the bloom ferts) or increase the amount of bloom ferts next feeding to give them a shot of N.

it could be lockout from salt build up in the soil. I use AN's Micro-Grow-Bloom as a base fert and the calculator caused some burn and I ended up having to flush my soil (Fox Farm Ocean Forest & Light Warrior 2:1). Personally, I'd flush with 3x the water of your pot size and then next feeding give them 1/2 strength.

It could be a lockout but again it's 3 plants out of 18.

i've been doing a lot of reading and it seems my best course of action would be to feed the 3 a good dose of the grow nutrients and then go back to the sensi bloom. if nothing else, it will be a good experiment for me.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. Your comments caused me to search using different parameters and i found some good info. Love the internet!

People definitely need to know what sort of salts buildup they have in their growing medium to avoid problems. They may test and know what they feed but if they do not test the soil and runoff (PourThru testing) they will not know what has not been used by the plants and has built up.

Checking EC and pH is important and keeping up on it will help someone to avoid numerous often seen problems.

I have said it many times. Being a good grower is not being able to diagnose problems and then solve them and still have respectable or better results. Being a good grower is knowing how to keep from experiencing problems, knowing how to avoid the types of problems that many people encounter, and that will guarantee quality results.

No, your right Brick. Most people in here think it's a pot, some dirt & water, period. Which is the cause for most of the undiminishing chaos in here, revolving around Knew-B growers! A little bit of time reading & research, goes a very long way...
