Important question about yield?

hey everyone hope everybody is alright!

I just finished my 2nd grow ever which were autoflowers now Im going with photoperiods Iv just ordered the blue gelato 41 seeds by barneys farm and got a lot of freebies which equaled 14 seeds in total I would like to get the maximum yield possible and thought the (Sea of Green) method would be the best combined with lst to get the most out of my grow my goal is yield with decent/good quality which method/way do you guys think I should use on this upcoming grow.?

Btw I have a 4x4 grow tent , with a yield master hood using a 600 watts bulb
Now should I do 10-14 plants in 1 gallon square pots veg for a little then switch to floor and start lst-ing ??? Or use bigger pots and fewer plants? And will upgrading to a 1000 watts bulb make a significant difference? Thanks guys!

Many ways to the same path but for ease id do nine fems in a 3 x 3 topping and flowering at the fitth/sixth then flowering.

A hybrid of sog and topping is quite a quick method and productive. Id be looking at five weeks veg and eight main buds a plant pulling back any that push above the canopy.

Shouldn't be too hard a descion and you can get your veg started and change style at a later date

I do 9 plants in a mainline. 1000W will add some weight but imop not enough to pay for the upgrade and energy unless you are running co2 also.

So you think I can do 9-10 plants in 1 gallon pots veg for 5 weeks from seed while continuously topping when it reaches 5 weeks veg switch them to flower?

Sog is awsome but in a 4x4 you need like 50 to 70 plants for a sog. Without a watering system thats a shit tone of work!
People often mistake my grow for sog. Mainline is like a sog for the broke or lazy lol. 9 plants in a mainline is 72 colas
That looks very awesome bro! Whats your method and size pots and how long you veg/flower for?

5 or 6 week veg depending on strain. Rapid rooter, solo cup, 1 gal pot, 3 gal pot
Can I just start them directly into the 3 gallon pots and do 12
plants in a 4x4 using mainlining top till i have 8 main colas on each which would be 96 colas with 12 plants in 3 gallons pots what do you think? And why rapid rooter never heard of it?

Probably not enough room for 12 plants in a 4x4. Yes you can start them in there 3 gal pot. Be carefull not to over water, let the pot fully dry between waterings. Then slowly water to full sateration. Make sure you trellis for support in flower. You dont want to try to feed around 70 stakes. Also you want a pump and wand of some type to feed once the trellis goes in

Would it be just easier for sea of green to do 6-8 plants and top them 3-4 times before SCROG.

That's what I have done to my 6 plants. I cannot even count how many top buds I have but there should be at least 60 of them. Almost all of them leveled with scrogging.

Hey AKBK31!

A SOG would definitely help you optimize your yields. As long as your canopy is uniform with no empty space, you should be fine.

A 600w on a light mover can give you almost as much as a 1000w.

Good luck bro ;)

Side branches that turned up due to training are great dont get me wrong but they never get the size of true colas.

So the trellis goes in once I switch to flower? And I have no info on the pump and wand thing how do I do it thanks a bunch man

They are not realy side branches. I topped the first top node at the beginning, let two new ones grow a bit instead and topped each new one again, then I repeated it for each new top node 1-2 more times. So I have from 8 to 16 tops on each plant.

It sounds like you are doing single grows in one space?. Sog would be the fastest way to get the most and quickest yield but you really need to be automated for sanity and upkeep. If you don't have automation then you will appreciate bigger pots and scrog. I don't think it's optimal to mix the two. True Sog is not something to take lightly in getting the right plant count and feeding routine.

In a 4x4 space for scrog on fastest single space turn around, 6 to 9 plants in 2 gal pots (assuming coco) will give you a good root mass area that will manage once per day manual feeding. If you don't want to be in there feeding every day in flower then up it to 3 to 4 gal with 4 pots and you can feed every other day. The lower/upper limits depends on how long you veg, or how big they get in your grow situation/skill with topping/training.. so it's some trial and error that you may not get right first time.

Feeding every day+ may increase yield but also comes with pest risks and added moisture/rot potential. Something to consider and not be blinded by ''weight'' over your current skill level/environment control.

If you truly want high weight low veg time, look into real automated sog. Drain to waste tables, etc etc. The quality/weight ratio from all i've read isn't as good as coco/organic supplement mix though. Don't quote that as truth, it's how I've perceived it.

Wtf is mainlining again?
:-)
Never heard of this term but it seems it is just bending stems by slightly breaking them to make top buds even in height

UPD: Actually based on the video picture and its content it involves multiple topping, bending to even tops and securing them with a wire.
