Impatient or slow growing?

Here are some pictures. Im on my first week of the seedling phase. I just don't know if i'm impatient, or there just isn't any progress. Their germination stage was really fast, and this is just really slow now.
Im not using any nutrients in 2/3 of the containers. The one has a miracle grow mix that gets fed to her once a week.

Light:
Im using 2 30w CFLs,

Medium:
they are planted in a container like a sour cream dipping container, but not.

Soil:
they are buried in :
~60% soil
~15% perlite
~10% sand
~10% worm casting
~5% pre-mix

Venitaltion:
Cheap fan

(sorry pictures suck ... I need a new camera)

if its about 3/4 days youre ok,looks like its a lil slow,i think u need more lights,i just started a new batch and there 5/6days and there starting 2nd set of real leaves,i got 4-27w cfl's and 2-23w cfl's and a 2ft flouros(fish tank) and there shifting to 3rd right now,not bad i think but i feel they even need more even though they r showing tight node spacing as of now, they'll be moving to a new home and light(400w hps) soon, the cfl's are temp. but im gonna keep for another gig,lol....just add more and i think the'll kick it up a notch,im gonna start mine on some weak nutes on wed......good luck, ras

Oh yeah, my light cycle is 24 hours? Mistake? And when should I move them to a bigger pot? Im watering 4-5 times a week.

im going with 18/6 and i think u might be watering a lil to much, ive only watered them about 2 maybe three times since they busted out of the soil(germed in paper towel12/12 popped)also got a small fan hitting them 18/6....24 is cool i just see a diffrence everytime the lights turn on....and i checked thier birthdate and its 7days after putting them in peat moss pellets........ras

u know what i really didnt even trip on how high u have them lights, lower them to about an inch above the plants and slow the watering,i water them just enough to keep them going it makes the roots keep searching for water and the stronger the roots, the stronger the plant......this works for me,,oh yeah the more lights the better,it can never hurt as long as they dont burn,lol....i hope this helps tb.....ras

Yeah thanks. I real a lot of the GrowFAQ in the last few weeks and I know that over watering is a big no-no. I'll probably lower the lights a little bit .... The CFLs dont really put off so much heat.
So, still looking for tips and advice on growing faster. Im trying to have 2 mothers at the latest of next month.

Switch to "Daylight" (6500k) cfl's if you are using "soft" or "warm", for vegetative growth. Save the "warm" ones for flowering. If you stick with cfl's I think you should add several more if you can. Cfl's can be used from start to finish but, IMHO, growing seems to go in slow motion compared to grows using HID's.

I know I wish I had the grow space and the money to by Metal Halide HIDs. Im just trying to do it with those CFLs for now. Ok Im gonna try to find something that will hold several light bulbs instead of being ghetto about it.

Keep the lights 24/7 if you want faster production as using cfl light is way slower than the mh or hps, there's really not much you can do other than keeping the lights on 24/7 and putting as many cfl's as you can close above them.

I was wondering about your containers looks like there's quite a bit of water, do you have holes on the bottoms of containers for drainage? also it probably would be a good idea to repot them in larger and proper containers but make sure to burry the stem close to the first set of water leaves and keep them lights close to the tops if you want to see tight nod growth.

go with MAny more Cfls. buts try using the 40 watters. i dunnu why people always go for the 23watts. go for the best right away! and if you can get hps do it now and quick lol Peace

this is what i got for my light set up for right now, i bought a vanity light bar for $15 and it has 4 bulb spots, i bought 4 Y splitters that screw in the light socked, 75 cents each, and i bought 3 3packs of 23w cfl's, they were $14 for a pack of 3, so far this is working great for me, low temps and lots of light, i am just vegging right now, i will be getting a 400w mh,hps set up, there pretty cheap to, under 150 bucks.

I cant afford anything HID oriented for a while, so Im just growing the cheap way. Im not really interested in being on the cover of high times, i was just doing this to actually smoke good stuff and not spend more money on this $hitty weed i smoke.

I have a light bar, but it was made for home wiring rather then just a plug-in. I posted another thread on how to splice it into something that can just plug in the wall, but I dont think its going anywhere. If someone can PM me and help me through it. Basically, do I need resisters, what wires colors go to what, and will i blow up my house if i plug it in?

What color wires does the light bar have?

And if it was meant for home wiring, then im assuming you mean it goes straight into the wall and not through an outlet, then the colors really won't matter since its ac.

I just dont want to hook the wrong wires up ... and the light bar requires light bulbs. And I was just thinking of putting in a y splitter and hookin up cfls

Because some peeps don't have money for the good stuff right off bat and the No0b! as myself don't realize this but by the time you get all the stuff needed to grow a decent cfl grow you could have bought a real nice hps system, If I would of known this from the get go I would have waited until I could of afford a system flat out, I was looking for the cheapest route at the time, however since I am limited money I couldn't of afford everything all at once, so this grow is working for me as I was able to get a piece hear and there and still managed to get some healthy plants, also it's a good learning curve.

The next go around I will have a better system, this hole experience so far has been awesome!

Ok, I wired up my light bar, and it worked. Can I do the same thing for a 100 watt hps light that I came across just now?

yeah i would go with a mh or hps right off the bat if you can. i found a 250w mh for 150 bucks. ballast, air coolable reflector and brand new bulb for 150! the growth ive seen in the past 2 weeks since my plants sprouted has been incredible.
