I'm thinking around 4-5 day. You?

My latest plant. Its a new strain to me and the trics are getting really milky but the pistils don't seem done. What do you think. 9 weeks flower today. 10 weeks of 12/12 total and veged before that...

id say about 1-2 weeks depending on what kinda high your after

I kind of feel that way myself. I've been reading bits and pieces of resin degrading. The tricombes turn amber. I've seen where some people think you should actualy go until you have about 10% amber but that seems too long. So, how long IS too long?

what kinda light you using?

actually right now I'm using both a 400w hps and a reflector type Cfl burning 208 actual watts. This plant has been under the cfl lately as I'm FINALLY starting a run with decent stock. I'm just going to allow for up to 10 weeks in my schedule so I can get set for the new run of 8. I just have to clear this plant & 1 mocha skunk (about 5 more weeks) and 2 Kush (also 5 weeks) and I'll be done with multi strain grows. Pain in the butt... If it's not one thing it's a mother.

your plant looks pritty close to done man, but i dont know about the tric color i think differnt strains will have a differnt ratio when thier done, cause i dont see how a 12-13 week sativa and a early 8 week indica would have the same amber/cloudy ratio i could be crazy i only got 5 harvests under my belt but i chop'em when they look done iv gone by tric color b4 but i dont think im gonna worry about that to much any more i feel like i can read my plants good

It's quite hard to go "too long" without your buds turning to mush. I NEVER harvest with less than 30-40% amber trichomes and I've never had a problem with couch-lock weed (I recently had some that went to about 60-70% amber on me almost overnight. I was a bit worried, but it turned out to be some of the best smoke I've ever had!). If you want a strictly head buzz just grow a Sativa to maturity. If you want a really good stone grow an Indica to maturity. Most of us like something somewhere inbetween, which is where the wonderful world of crosses/hybrids comes in.
Regardless, grow plants until they are fully mature if you want the maximum effect that particular phenotype is capable of. Most people harvest WWWWAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY too early in my opinion, and only 10% amber is definitely premature. Most plants will really pack the weight on the buds the last 2 weeks before reaching their optimum. You usually have a 1 or 2 week window in which to harvest at that point, after which things will degrade rapidly and the plant will die (at least in nature).

How long is too long? I don't think there is any such thing as long as the plant remains healthy, and you are able to maintain patience --- which is usually the hardest part for me personally. Sometimes ya just can't resist nice crystal-covered buddage, whether it's fully done or not!!!

well I would wait a little longer for the bud leafs to wither a bit----but I like it 30% amber...Pick a nug off dry it---in the week it takes to dry there about ---smoke it time the high and see if it smooth or shakey like. Snip another and so on till you get the look and feel of a harvest and though it is a bit slow and some say "dont prune at all unless it is all or nothing" I do mine in stages and experiment and by doing this it helps on the next time around with that type of strain. Like I got some stuff at the hydro store for where you are at right now---give it a boost of 0-0-2 and step back for the last two weeks will be like Genesis (so they implied?)
If you were to start your flush she would sense the urgency to finish her cycle too. I think you got a lite issue for having to go that long but I do not know much about that except I did finish my inside grow with a 10 day final in the sun and the pic below is a typical 2 stage harvest---she is still outside finishing off the little popcorn stuff. I can see by the recession of the pistils now as I am use to that strain. I get my scop and double check and Yep boom done.

I find this confusing. Let me be sure I am saying things correctly. Tricromes (trics) are the resin formations on the leaves and buds. Pistils are the hair-like things on buds. Trics start ctear, turn milky white (I thought thats when it's done), then turn amber as they start to degrade. Everybody agrees that you should allow 30%-40% amber trics? I thought 80-90% of the pistil changed to brown and the trics being a mix of clear and milky was proper...
