I'm Taking Martial Arts

This is the most impressive move I've seen in MMA. It may not seem like much but to be double underhooked and picked up off the ground by a wrestler of Lindland's quality and still get the reversal and land on top is amazing. Fedor looks like the Pillsbury Dough boy, so deceiving. Amazing to watch.

I used to study karate, for about eight years. Made it to first degree black belt. The style was shito-ryu Okinawan self-defense. There's a lot to take away from Ryukyuan martial arts...as you said, when Okinawa was annexed by Japan, they were forced to learn to fight with their hands, feet, and farm tools. I'm also a black belt in bo (staff) training. I got about intermediate with sai, kama and nunchaku.

you said you use to be...

so does that mean that you dont pratice anymore????

i hope you still do...

theirs alot of people who get their black belts then just quit

thinking ohhh im a blackbelt i can fuck you up now....( not true )

once you stop training all your technique gos to hell..

im not saying right away...and im not saying that you lose it all...

im just saying that over time you ---( not you johan ) peolple...will get sloppy

you can ride a bike....when you was a kid i bet you could wheelie for miles...( from praticeing )

years later with out doing it , its hard to ride a wheelie 5 ft...

im not saying none of that about you so please dont take it that way.....

i just beleive that true blackbelts are current blackbelts...ya know......:peace:

Martial arts is a great thing! I've been training in MMA for about 4 years now, not because i wanna be badass, but because it's a great way to get your mind off the real world (it's kind of like a great spliff...in a semi-violent way!) haha

Hello MMA junkies, glad to see there's some fellow pot head fighters out there. I trained mma for 3 years, just stopped 6 months ago because my gym turned into an LA boxing and the price went through the roof, and all my buddies moved to an even more expensive gym. Kinda sucks around here that you can't go to an mma or boxing gym for less than 50 bucks a month. What do you guys pay at your gyms?
